Job summary

Amitabha Foundation in Malaysia is seeking a Recycling Collection Lorry Driver (3-Ton) to safely collect and transport recyclables from residential, commercial, and industrial sites to recycling facilities. The role emphasizes timely operations, safety, and customer service.

You will follow routes, log materials, perform vehicle checks, assist with facility sorting when needed, and may travel and stay overnight in Singapore for assignments. Accommodation and meals are provided.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Goods Driving Licence (GDL) and the appropriate driving licence required to operate the assigned recycling collection lorry.
• Must have a good driving record with a responsible approach to road safety.
• Physically fit and able to perform duties involving loading, unloading, and handling recyclable materials when required.
• Willing to travel and stay overnight in Singapore when required.
• Able to work independently as well as cooperate effectively with the operations team.

Responsibilities

• Follow assigned collection routes and schedules, report delays, and optimize routes for efficiency.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; report maintenance issues to the team; adhere to safety protocols and PPE.
• Interact professionally with customers; address inquiries and elevate issues when needed.
• Complete and maintain accurate daily logs, including route information and fuel usage.
• Assist in sorting materials at facilities and support other operations tasks as required.

The Recycling Collection Lorry Driver is responsible for the efficient collection and transportation of recyclable materials from designated locations to recycling facilities. The driver ensures timely, safe, and compliant operations, contributing to the company’s sustainability goals. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to traffic laws and safety regulations, and excellent customer service when interacting with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

1.Collection and Transportation:

Safely operate a recycling collection lorry to pick up recyclable materials from residential, commercial, and industrial locations.

Transport collected materials to recycling plants or designated facilities.

Ensure accurate logging of materials collected, including type, volume, and destination.

2. Route Planning and Execution:

Follow assigned collection routes and schedules, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.

Report any route changes or delays to the Recycling and Operations Manager.

Optimize routes to minimize fuel consumption and maximize operational efficiency.

3. Vehicle Maintenance and Safety:

Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the lorry to ensure it is in good working condition.

Report any maintenance issues or needed repairs to the maintenance team promptly.

Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Comply with traffic laws and company safety policies at all times.

4. Customer Service:

Interact professionally and courteously with customers when collecting materials.

Address any customer inquiries or concerns and elevate issues to the Recycling and Operations Manager if necessary.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

Complete and maintain accurate daily logs, including route information, fuel usage, and maintenance records.

Report any accidents, delays, or issues encountered during collection in a timely manner.

6. Compliance and Environmental Responsibility:

Ensure all collected materials are handled in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Contribute to the company’s commitment to sustainability by promoting recycling best practices when interacting with customers.

7. Assist in Other Duties as Required:

Support other members of the operations team with various tasks, including sorting materials at recycling facilities when needed.

Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on safety standards and company policies.

Job Requirements:

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.

Able to work independently as well as cooperate effectively with the operations team.

Previous experience in lorry driving, waste management, recycling collection, logistics, or a similar field will be an added advantage.
