Job summary

Columbia Asia Hospital - Petaling Jaya is seeking a Radiology Department Head to coordinate activities, oversee budget development, equipment quality control, inventory, and performance improvement. You will hire, supervise and evaluate radiology staff and ensure compliance with radiation safety standards.

The role requires a Diploma/Certificate in Radiology, progressive radiography experience with supervisory background, APC validity, and management training is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certificate in Radiology required and competent in radiography techniques.
  • Progressive five years' radiography experience in a hospital setting with supervisory exposure.
  • Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and set department goals.
  • Supervise radiology department workflow, staff, rosters and case scheduling.
  • Plan physical development and staffing for the radiology department.
  • Oversee equipment quality control and maintenance in the radiology department.
  • Facilitate communication within the department and with the medical staff.
  • Pursue ongoing knowledge, skills development and performance improvement in radiology.
  • Assist radiographers to maintain smooth workflow and on-call support when required.
  • Provide education opportunities for staff and train radiographers on new techniques.
  • Develop and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Carry out duties or projects as assigned by hospital management.
  • Maintain inventory levels at department level and prepare monthly performance reports.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with radiology regulations and radiation safety standards.
  • Maintain departmental files and records per CAH and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Reporting To: Regional Chief Executive Officer (RCEO)/ CEO/ Operation Manager

Position Summary:

Coordinate department activities including budget development, equipment quality control and maintenance, inventory and ordering of supplies, and performance improvement.

Responsible for hiring, supervising and evaluating radiology staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • 1. Plan, direct, and establish department goals.
  • 2. Supervise the operation for the radiology department's workflow, staff, roster, scheduling of cases etc.
  • 3. Plan the physical development and staff requirement of radiology department.
  • 4. Oversee the quality control and maintenance of the equipment in the radiology department.
  • 5. Facilitate the flow of communication within the radiology department and to members of the medical profession within and outside the hospital.
  • 6. Upgrade knowledge, skills and follow the development in the radiology industries. Initiate performance improvement.
  • 7. Assist the radiographers in the performance of their duties in order to maintain the smooth workflow. Assist in taking calls after office hours and weekend when required.
  • 8. Provide education opportunities for staff. Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to continuing professional development and education. Train qualified radiographers on new techniques and operations of the new equipment.
  • 9. Develop and update policy and procedures.
  • 10. Carry out any duties or project as assigned by the management of the hospital.
  • 11. Maintain inventory level at departmental level.
  • 12. Prepare monthly summary report of the department's performance.
  • 13. Attend any meetings or trainings as required by the management of the hospital.
  • 14. Ensure national and radiology regulations and standards for radiation protection and safety are met.
  • 15. Maintain departmental files and records according to CAH and regulatory guidelines.
  • 16. Perform any other duties as assigned or requested.
Education and Requirements:
  • Diploma/ Certificate in Radiology. Competent in technical aspects of radiography.
  • Progressive five (5) years' experience as a radiographer in a hospital setting with 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Valid annual practicing certificate where applicable.
  • Degree / Diploma in Management will be an added advantage.
  • Possess general computer knowledge to keep department records.

  • Possess good managerial and leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills and good judgment.
