RIGOL TECHNOLOGIES (MALAYSIA) Sdn. Bhd. in Bayan Lepas, Penang, seeks an R&D Software Application Engineer to design and validate software for our instrument portfolio and conformance test solutions.
You will contribute across the product life cycle, implement automation scripts, apply AI-assisted workflows, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve measurement accuracy and repeatability.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Final-year students and recent graduates are welcome to apply.
- Solid foundation in software engineering and proficiency in Python, C#, or C++.

- Hands-on experience with test and measurement instruments or automated testing is a plus.

Job description
We are hiring R&D Software Application Engineers to design, develop, and validate application software and test solutions across our test and measurement portfolio. We welcome applications from experienced engineers and fresh graduates from relevant field.
You will work on software for electronic instruments—such as oscilloscopes, signal sources, spectrum analyzers, RF instruments, power supplies, and data acquisition systems—as well as protocol compliance test applications. You will contribute across the product life cycle, from concept and requirements through release. You will help ensure that products and features meet quality, performance, and reliability expectations. You will also apply AI/ML and AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve test automation, measurement intelligence, and development efficiency.
Design and develop test and measurement application software, including measurement applications, instrument-control features, conformance test software, and automated validation tools.
Work with advanced high-speed digital standards and technologies (such as IEEE, PCI Express, MIPI, and USB), and translate complex specifications into executable test methods and algorithms.
Participate in the research, architecture, and design of new products, as well as in enhancements to existing application and conformance test software.
Apply technical and product knowledge to improve test methodologies, measurement accuracy, usability, and repeatability.
Design, develop, and run automation scripts (for example, in Python, C#, or C++) using in-house and open-source tools, and improve test frameworks for reliability and maintainability.
Use AI-assisted development and testing workflows to improve coding efficiency, test coverage, documentation quality, and defect turnaround time.
Develop or integrate AI/ML-based capabilities such as intelligent signal classification, anomaly detection, measurement recommendations, automated report summarization, and test‑sequence optimization.
Stay current with emerging test and measurement technologies, software tools, AI tools, and engineering best practices.
Act as a technical bridge by partnering with Marketing, Software QA, Learning Products, and Technical Support throughout the product life cycle, from customer requirements through shipment.
Experienced engineers are expected to contribute independently and help shape technical direction. Fresh graduates will be supported by the team, as well as self learning, take ownership of assigned modules, and grow into full contributors.
A bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Final-year students and recent graduates are welcome to apply.
A solid foundation in software engineering and proficiency in Python, C#, or C++, with the ability to write clear, testable, and maintainable code. For recent graduates, coursework, final-year projects, internships, or personal projects that demonstrate this ability are acceptable.
An interest in electronic test and measurement, including instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, source‑measure instruments, and data acquisition systems.
The ability to work with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, and to communicate technical ideas clearly.
For experienced candidates: hands‑on experience with test and measurement instruments, application software, or automated testing.
Relevant work experience, an internship, or project experience in test and measurement, embedded software, instrumentation, or software testing.
Knowledge of test and measurement principles, instrument applications, or conformance testing.
Experience in high-speed digital conformance testing, protocol analysis, RF/microwave measurement, power‑electronics testing, or signal‑integrity validation is a strong advantage.
Practical experience applying AI/ML to engineering problems—for example, classification, regression, anomaly detection, or time‑series and signal processing is a strong advantage.
Experience creating or executing automated software tests, or working with automation frameworks or CI/CD pipelines, is a plus.
Experience using LLM tools effectively for coding, debugging, test generation, and documentation is a plus.
Experienced software or application engineers who want to build test and measurement products.
Recent graduates and final‑year students in relevant disciplines who have a solid programming foundation and a strong interest in instruments, measurement, or test automation.
