Job summary

Charisma Lab Industries in Malaysia is seeking an R&D Formulator to develop advanced cosmetic formulations from concept through scale-up, manage raw materials, and conduct stability testing. You will transfer formulations from lab to batch production, prepare formulation sheets and manufacturing instructions, and troubleshoot issues related to separation, color, odour, viscosity and pH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Industrial Chemistry or related field.
• 2–5 years experience in R&D cosmetic formulation.
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO 22716, R&D documentation and NPRA requirements.
• Ability to read and understand TDS, SDS and raw material specifications.
• Understanding of emulsifiers, surfactants, polymers, preservatives and active ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Develop formulations according to customer cost targets.
• Understand and apply INCI nomenclature, material restrictions and cosmetic compliance requirements.
• Manage product costing and scale-up processes.

R&D Formulator role focused on cosmetic formulation development, requiring expertise in creating new formulations, managing raw materials, conducting stability testing, and scaling up products from laboratory to batch production.

About you

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Industrial Chemistry or related field
• Minimum 2-5 years experience in R&D cosmetic formulation
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO 22716, R&D documentation and NPRA requirements
• Ability to read and understand technical data sheets (TDS), safety data sheets (SDS) and raw material specifications
• Understanding of emulsifiers, surfactants, polymers, preservatives and active ingredients
• Experience working in OEM/ODM manufacturing facilities is a significant advantage
