Job summary

De Cosmetics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Research and Development Chemist to lead sun care product formulation and skincare development at its Ipoh facility. The role involves creating new formulations, improving existing products, conducting QA/QC, and coordinating with QA, QC, Operations, and Sales to ensure timely commercialization.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Process, Cosmetics Science, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in skincare product formulation.
• Experience in sun care products preferred.
• Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop new formulations and product improvements.
• Conduct routine QA/QC and quality control of finished products.
• Coordinate with Operations, QC/QA to ensure timely project plans.
• Review and update SOPs for the R&D Department.
• Pass Batch Manufacturing Forms for approval by R&D Manager.
• Prepare samples and respond to inquiries with Sales Consultants.
• Maintain database for developed products and research.

Job scope:

a. Responsible for research & development work that specialize in sun care product

b. Creating new cosmetic skincare and personal care products

c. Able to work independently and a team player

d. Develop new formulations and product improvement

e. Conduct routine QA/QC and respond to quality control of finished product

f. Work with the Sales Consultant to resolve inquiries and prepare customized sample

g. Monitor trial run of new product at the production line for commercialization

h. Coordinate with Operations, QC/QA to ensure the projects are planned and executed in a timely manner

i. Report on adherence to schedule and trial run status to R&D Manager

j. Maintain proper database for the developed product and research

k. Work with QA to resolve complaints or recall cases by conducting investigations to product

l. Handle material evaluation for new supplier/material

m. Review and update SOP for R&D Department

n. To act as a checker for Batch Manufacturing Form and pass it to the R&D Manager approval

o. Responsible to ensure the final products meet the standard quality, design, and functionality criteria and released the products to the market in the event of the unplanned absence of the QA Manager

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s degree, Post-Graduate Diploma, or Professional Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Process, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetics Science, or a related field.

Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of experience and strong knowledge in skincare product formulation, preferably specializing in sun care products.
Ideal candidates should demonstrate technical expertise, familiarity with chemical manufacturing processes, and an ability to contribute effectively to quality-driven production environments.
