Job summary

North West Enterprise Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam, Malaysia, is seeking a dedicated R&D Formulation Scientist to join its cosmetics and personal care development team. You will develop, test and optimize product formulations to achieve quality, stability and safety, while assessing new ingredients and technologies.

You'll conduct laboratory testing, stability studies and maintain thorough documentation to support regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field.
• Experience in personal care, skincare or cosmetic product development/formulation is highly preferred.
• Experience in formulation development, laboratory testing and product stability testing will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of cosmetic and personal care ingredients, formulation techniques and product development processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and optimize product formulations to achieve desired quality, stability, safety and performance.
• Optimize existing formulations to improve product stability, effectiveness, texture and overall performance.
• Conduct laboratory testing and evaluation of raw materials, formulations and finished products.
• Conduct stability testing and monitor product performance throughout the development process.
• Prepare and evaluate samples, prototypes and product formulations for R&D purposes.
• Research and evaluate new raw materials, ingredients and technologies for product development.
• Conduct chemical analysis and laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process materials and finished products.
• Maintain accurate records of formulation development, laboratory results, testing procedures and product specifications.
• Troubleshoot formulation and product quality issues and recommend appropriate improvements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant quality, safety and regulatory requirements for personal care and cosmetic products.
