Job summary

Guang Lei Steel Structure – Rawang, Selangor is seeking a Quantity Surveying professional for steel structure pre-contract and estimating. The role covers accurate take-offs, tender preparation, and client liaison, with a focus on technical clarity and commercial risk management.

The candidate should have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil/Structural Engineering, be proficient in AutoCAD, Tekla and MS Office, and be fluent in English for formal communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• Proficient in reading structural drawings and BIM models.
• Excellent command of English for technical discussions and formal correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Steel take-off and estimating from BIM/2D drawings for fabrication, coating, transport and erection.
• Prepare tender packages, evaluate quotations and define scope and interfaces.
• Coordinate with Employer, PE, consultants and contractors on technical matters and commercial issues.
• Review tender/contract documents to identify risks and propose mitigation.
• Manage pre-tender queries, bulletins, addenda and post-tender clarifications.

Guang Lei Steel Structure – Rawang, Selangor

Steel Take-Off & Estimating: Accurately measure steel tonnage, connections and related quantities from BIM/2D drawings, and prepare cost estimates for fabrication, coating, transportation and erection.

Tendering & Procurement: Prepare steel structure tender packages, evaluate subcontractor quotations, and define scope, exclusions and interface responsibilities.

Technical & Client Liaison: Coordinate with the Employer, Project Engineer (PE), consultants and contractors on technical clarifications, drawings and commercial matters. Prepare formal English correspondence and presentations.

Contract & Commercial Risk: Review tender and contract documents, identify commercial/contractual risks, gaps and potential claims, and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures.

Tender Clarification: Manage and maintain records of pre-tender queries, bulletins, addenda and post-tender clarifications.

Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering or related field, with relevant experience in steel structure pre-contract / estimating.

Proficient in AutoCAD, Tekla and Microsoft Office, with strong ability to read structural drawings and BIM models.

Good knowledge of steel materials, welding, coating, fireproofing, fabrication and erection processes.

Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to handle technical discussions, presentations and formal commercial correspondence independently.

Familiar with FIDIC, JCT or other standard construction contracts; knowledge of RICS NRM2/CESMM is an advantage.

Strong commercial awareness, analytical skills and attention to detail.
