Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support tender preparation and cost estimation. You will review drawings, prepare Bills of Quantities, source supplier quotations, and assist the tender team to meet submission deadlines.

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. The role involves coordination with designers, engineers, suppliers, and internal teams, plus site visits as needed to gather data for accurate tender submissions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience will have an added advantage.
• Basic understanding of construction methods, tendering procedures, measurement, and cost estimation.
• Able to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Basic knowledge of Bills of Quantities, supplier quotations, and cost comparisons.
• Experience or exposure to Design & Build projects is a plus.
• Good numerical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand tender drawings, specifications, contract documents, and project requirements.
• Assist in quantity take-off and measurements based on tender drawings.
• Assist in prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ), cost estimates, and tender.
• Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare quotation and cost comparisons tables for review by the Senior QS or Tender Manager.
• Assist the tender team in reviewing tender documents and identifying missing information or discrepancies.
• Compile tender documents and ensure submissions are completed within the required timeline.
• Coordinate with designers, engineers, suppliers, and internal departments to clarify technical and pricing matters.
• Assist with tender interviews, presentations, and post-tender clarifications when required.
• Update tender rates, supplier quotations, and cost databases regularly.

Communication & Coordination

Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal project teams under the guidance of senior team members.

Attend tender meetings, technical discussions, project handover meetings, and site visits when required.

Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations within the required timeline.

Maintain proper documentation and filing of tender, contractual, and commercial records.

Provide administrative and technical support to the tender team.

Perform other ad-hoc duties and assignments as required by management.
