Job summary

HHC Building Construction Sdn Bhd seeks a Quantity Surveyor in Penang to prepare cost estimates, budgets and Bills of Quantities for construction projects. You will handle tender documents, evaluate quotations, and process progress and subcontractor claims while ensuring costs stay within approved budgets.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying with at least two years of experience, proficiency in Excel and QS software, and strong negotiation and coordination skills to liaise

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within the building construction industry.
• Able to perform quantity taking-off and prepare cost estimates independently.
• Familiar with construction drawings, BQ, progress claims and Variation Orders.
• Good knowledge of construction costs, materials and subcontractor pricing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant QS software.
• Good communication, negotiation and organizational skills.
• Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with the project/site team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and Bills of Quantities (BQ) for construction projects.
• Prepare tender documents, quotations and tender comparisons.
• Evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and process progress claims, subcontractor claims and payments.
• Handle Variation Orders (VO), including measurement, costing and supporting documentation.
• Carry out quantity taking-off and site measurements.
• Monitor project costs and ensure expenditure is within the approved budget.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and project/site teams on contractual and commercial matters.
• Prepare cost reports and monitor project financial performance.
• Assist in contract administration and documentation.
• Prepare and negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Maintain proper records of quotations, claims, VO and other QS documentation.
• Perform other QS-related duties as assigned by management.
