Job summary

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD in Penang Island is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs, procurement, and contractual matters across the project lifecycle.

The role involves preparing cost estimates and bills of quantities, monitoring budgets, conducting site measurements, negotiating with suppliers, and producing financial reports to senior management—while ensuring projects meet quality, schedule, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification such as AIQS, RICS or equivalent body recognised in Malaysia.
• Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials and methodologies.
• Proficiency in cost estimation and project financial management; knowledge of contract administration and procurement procedures.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and quantity surveying software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work in a team and manage multiple projects.
• Knowledge of BIM is advantageous.
• Able to communicate in Mandarin, Malay and English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects.
• Manage project budgets and monitor expenditure to ensure cost control.
• Conduct site inspections and measurements to verify work progress and quality.
• Negotiate with suppliers and contractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
• Prepare contract documents and tender specifications.
• Process interim payment certificates and final accounts.
• Maintain detailed records of all project costs, variations and claims.
• Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers and clients to resolve cost-related issues.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis to senior management.
