Job summary

Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering is seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor to join its project controls team in Malaysia. The role focuses on cost estimation, budgeting, risk assessment, and contract administration for marine new builds and conversions.

You will monitor expenditures, prepare progress claims, support audits, and ensure compliance with contract law and ship repair law. A 3–5 year background in quantity surveying is required, with familiarity of standard forms of contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Quantity Surveying or related accreditation.
• 3–5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, preferably with marine or new build exposure.
• Contract Law and Ship repair Law knowledge.
• Cost management expertise.
• Familiarity with standard forms of contract.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for marine new build and/or conversion works.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, forecast and financial plans.
• Assess and manage risk related to project cost and timeline.
• Assist the project control in administer contracts.
• Monitor variations, claims and changes in scope of work.
• Prepare and evaluate progress claims, interim valuations, and final accounts.
• Assist Cost Controller quoting for variation order.
• Track project expenditure and ensure alignment with cost plans.
• Conduct value engineering exercises and cost benefit analysis.
• Prepare regular cost reports and financial updates for stakeholders.
• Liaise with project managers, project superintendent, technical executive and stakeholders to validate progress and align with cost records.
• Conduct site visits to verify completed works and access quantities.
• Ensure all financial and commercial activities comply with legal requirements.
• Support audits and provide documentation as required.
