Job summary

Liancon Sdn Bhd, a Johor Bahru-based building and interior fit-out contractor, seeks a Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial side of projects—from tender pricing to final accounts. You will price BOQs, take-offs from drawings, prepare monthly progress claims, and handle variation orders.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, with at least 2 years of QS experience, strong Excel skills, and proficiency in Chinese, English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying or related field is required.
• Minimum 2 years of QS experience with a contractor or sub-contractor.
• Able to price a consultant BQ and take-off quantities from drawings.
• Experience preparing progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.
• Strong MS Excel skills with BQ/claim layouts.

Responsibilities

Job description

Liancon is a Johor Bahru building and interior fit-out contractor. Our renovation business has been running since 2008, and we now work on commercial, healthcare and private projects. We are hiring a Quantity Surveyor to handle the commercial side of our projects, from tender pricing to final account.

Key responsibilities

Price tenders and quotations: read BQs, drawings and specifications, get supplier and subcontractor quotes, and prepare the priced BQ.

Do quantity take-off from drawings and check consultant BQ quantities.

Prepare monthly progress claims to the main contractor and follow up until certified and paid.

Prepare and negotiate variation orders, with supporting quantities, rates and site records.

Get quotations from subcontractors and suppliers, compare them, and prepare subcontract awards and letters of award.

Check and certify subcontractor claims against work done on site.

Track project budget against actual cost and report cost overruns early.

Prepare final accounts and close out projects with the main contractor and subcontractors.

Keep claim, VO and contract records organised and up to date.

Attend site meetings and joint measurements when required.

About you

Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of QS experience with a contractor or subcontractor.

Able to price a consultant Bill of Quantities (BQ) and take off quantities from drawings.

Experience preparing progress claims, variation orders and final accounts.

Strong in Microsoft Excel (formulas, BQ and claim layouts).

Good written and spoken Chinese, English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Own transport. Willing to visit sites around Johor Bahru.

Preferred: Interior fit-out, M&E or hospital project experience.

Preferred: Knowledge of PAM / PWD / CIDB standard forms of contract.

Preferred: Experience with CostX, Glodon, AutoCAD or similar take-off software.
