Job summary

Unisem Malaysia is seeking a Quality Reliability & Assurance Engineer to strengthen customer quality management, reliability governance, and quality system compliance in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.

This role focuses on product reliability, handling customer quality issues, audit readiness, and continuous improvement per ISO9001 and IATF16949, requiring structured problem-solving and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering discipline as listed.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Independent, proactive, and self-motivated.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary quality liaison for customer complaints and feedback.
• Lead structured problem-solving using 8D, 3x5 Why, and Cause & Effect methodologies.
• Generate and manage 8D reports and complaint documentation.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Monitor implementation effectiveness and escalate quality abnormalities.
• Ensure ISO9001 and IATF16949 compliance; support FMEA and Control Plan updates.
• Coordinate customer audits and compile audit responses and corrective actions.

Customer Quality & Complaint Management

• Act as the primary quality liaison for customer complaints and quality feedback (Assembly & Final Test related).

• Lead structured problem-solving using methodologies such as 8D, 3x5 Why, and Cause & Effect Analysis.

• Generate and manage 8D reports and complaint documentation.

• Coordinate cross-functional teams (Process/Product Engineering, Production, IPQA/FTQA, Maintenance) to drive effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Monitor and verify implementation effectiveness to ensure sustainable solutions.

• Escalate and report quality abnormalities in a timely manner.

Reliability & Assurance Governance

• Ensure compliance to ISO9001 and IATF16949 quality system requirements.

• Support risk assessment activities including FMEA and Control Plan updates.

• Verify additional controls for customer qualification lots to ensure full compliance.

Customer Audit & Compliance Management

• Act as the main coordinator for all customer audits.

• Coordinate customers audits and assessments.

• Work with respective departments to address audit findings and improvement actions.

• Compile professional audit responses and liaise directly with customers.

• Follow up to ensure corrective actions properly implemented and specifications updated accordingly.

Skills & Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System

• Familiar with IATF 16949 (Automotive Quality System)

• Knowledge in Semiconductor Packaging and Direct Materials

• Experience with Control Plan, FMEA, and 8D reporting

• Understanding of FA, Reliability Testing, Calibration & ESD controls

• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and technical report-writing ability

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronics / Mechanical / Chemical / Material Engineering or related Engineering discipline.

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in the semiconductor industry with similar responsibilities is an added advantage.

• Independent, proactive, and self-motivated.

• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Able to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage, enabling effective communication with regional customers.
