Job summary

Choo Bee Metal Industries in Ipoh, Malaysia, seeks a Quality Control Supervisor to oversee QC for raw materials, WIP and finished products, ensuring compliance with procedures and standards. You will coordinate testing, calibrate equipment, train staff, handle customer complaints, and assist in maintaining the QMS documentation.

Minimum Diploma in Metallurgy/Manufacturing, with 2 years' manufacturing experience preferred. Strong blueprint-reading and measurement skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Certificate or Diploma in Metallurgy, Materials, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferable with at least 2 years of working experience in manufacturing.
• Strong skills in reading technical blueprints and using measuring tools.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, BS EN 10219, JIS G 3452 is an added advantage.
• Technically sound, and have effective inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily/weekly/monthly quality control tasks and staff.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment per manufacturer specifications.
• Investigate customer complaints; document root causes and corrective actions.
• Coordinate quality inspection and performance reports for Senior QC Manager.
• Act as internal auditor for Quality Management System; participate in meetings.
• Authorize issuance of Mill Test Certificates as evidence of product quality.
• Set up Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current equipment; interpret results.

Job description

To ensure all quality control activities on raw materials, work-in-progress and finished products are performed in accordance with the Company’s procedures and specifications and in compliance with applicable standards set by various certifications bodies.

To plan, organize and supervise the daily/ weekly/ monthly work assignments of the staff in quality control work, in consultation with Senior QC Manager if necessary.

To ensure that all testing equipment is functional, carefully maintained and properly calibrated in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations, and provide guidance and training for staff on their proper use and maintenance.

To ensure that timely and effective action is taken to prevent damage or loss to equipment and facilities in the quality control section.

To ensure that all necessary measures are taken to promote the safety of staff who performs inspection and testing activities and are authorized to use inspection and testing equipment.

To attend promptly to all customer complaints and goods returned by customers; initiate investigative action to identify root causes; document the findings for each cases; and recommend corrective action to resolve them.

To co-ordinate/compile quality inspection and other performance reports, and present them to Senior QC Manager with well-presented analysis and recommendations for effective action.

To identify, propose and, if approved, implement initiatives for improvement in work procedures and work flow.

To assist Senior QC Manager to maintain and develop our Quality Management System, including the updating of the quality manual and other documentation, and undertaking other System responsibilities as required from time to time.

To ensure the day-to-day Quality Control Laboratory’s administration and the achievement of the set quality’s goals.

To act as an internal auditor for Quality Management System and to attend Quality Management System Committee and other meetings when the need arises.

To provide all necessary assistance to Sales, IT, System Assurance, Finance and other departments in matters which require the co-operation and assistance of Quality Control.

To authorize the approval in issuance of Mill Test Certificates as evidence of product’s quality

Non-Destructive Testing (Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current)

To setup Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current equipment as per company written practices or procedures.

To interpret and evaluate results NDT results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications.

To provide guidance to Ultrasonic Testing (UT) personnel Level I or equivalent in operation.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

Minimum of Certificate or Diploma in Science of Metallurgy, Materials, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field.

Preferable with at least 2 years of working experience in manufacturing environment

Strong skills in reading technical blueprints and using various measuring tools

Familiarity with international standards such as ISO 9001, BS EN 10219, JIS G 3452 is an added advantage

Technically sound, and have effective inter-personal skills.
