Job summary

ASTRODYNE TDI SDN. BHD. is seeking a Quality Technician to ensure product quality across the manufacturing lifecycle at our EMS partner site.

You will perform detailed in-process and final inspections of PCBA, system integration, and final assembly, verify BOM components, and monitor quality metrics.

This role requires 3+ years in EMS/QC, IPC-A-610 knowledge, and proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and multimeters.

Job description

The Quality Technician will be primarily stationed at our Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) partner's facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of our product throughout the manufacturing lifecycle by performing rigorous source inspections of in-process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Product Quality Source Inspection

Perform detailed in-process and final inspections of electronic assemblies (PCBA, system integration, final assembly) at the EMS site to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, workmanship standards (e.g., IPC) and customer requirements.

Conduct functional and visual inspections on critical-to-quality features, including soldering quality, component placement, cable routing and final cosmetic appearance.

Verify material traceability and ensure the correct components are used per the Bill of Materials (BOM).

Document all inspection results, including non-conformance and communicate findings promptly to the EMS team and internal stakeholders.

Manage Non-Conforming Material (NCM) identification, segregation and disposition process at the source location.

Verify the effectiveness of Corrective Actions taken by the EMS partner for product defects.

Process Audits and Quality System Monitoring

Execute scheduled and ad-hoc process audits on the EMS manufacturing floor, focusing on key areas such as:

Calibration status of inspection and test equipment.

Adherence to documented work instructions and SOPs.

Support the implementation and maintenance of our Quality Management System (QMS) requirements at the EMS site.

Track key quality metrics (e.g., First Pass Yield, Defect Per Million Opportunities - DPMO) and report trends to superiors.

Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA)

Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) activities for major quality issues.

Follow up with the EMS Quality and Manufacturing teams to ensure timely implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.

Provide technical input and recommendations for process improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

Job Requirements:

Diploma or Technical Certification in a relevant engineering or technical field (e.g., Electronics Technology, Quality Management) is highly preferred.

3+ years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Inspection or Quality Assurance within an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) or high-tech manufacturing environment.

Expertise in electronic component identification and soldering quality standards (preferably IPC-A-610 certification).

Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters).
