Job summary

AME Construction Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a qualified QC Inspector to join our team in Malaysia. You will ensure that steel structure fabrication, welding, erection, NDT, and coating activities comply with drawings, specs, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

Key duties include material inspections, MTC verification, NDT coordination, dimensional checks, and maintaining quality dossiers. The role requires 1–5 years in related work and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 1–5 years of steel structure fabrication, welding inspection and erection experience.
• Experience with welding inspection, NDT coordination and coating inspection.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and fabrication drawings.
• Strong documentation, NCR management and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure fabrication, welding, erection, NDT and coating activities meet drawings, specs, quality standards and HSE.
• Conduct material inspections, verify MTCs and maintain traceability.
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, dimensions and weld quality.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities and review reports.
• Perform dimensional checks, final inspections and monitor weld repairs.
• Inspect surface prep, blasting, painting and coating applications and DFT.
• Prepare RFIs, inspection reports, punch lists and NCRs.
• Verify corrective actions and close non-conformities.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, clients and third-party inspectors.
• Ensure calibration of inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE.

Job Purpose

• Ensure steel structure fabrication, welding, erection, NDT, and coating activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct material inspections, verify MTCs, and maintain material traceability.
• Inspect fit-up, joint preparation, dimensions, welding activities, and weld quality.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT) and review reports.
• Perform dimensional checks, final inspections, and monitor weld repairs.
• Inspect surface preparation, blasting, painting, coating applications, and DFT measurements.
• Conduct site inspections of erected steel structures, bolting works, and site NDT activities.
• Prepare RFIs, inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, and quality dossiers.
• Verify corrective actions and close non-conformities.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, clients, and third-party inspectors.
• Ensure calibration of inspection equipment and compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Welding, Metallurgical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 1-5 years of experience in steel structure fabrication, welding inspection, and erection projects.
• Experience in welding inspection, NDT coordination, dimensional control, and coating inspection.
• Knowledge of AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME Section V & IX, ISO 3834, ISO 5817, SSPC/NACE, and related standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
• Strong skills in quality documentation, NCR management, communication, and coordination.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• CSWIP 3.0 Welding Inspector or AWS CWI.
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor.
• Structural Bolting Inspection, Working at Height, or other HSE-related certifications.
