Job summary

CHEC CONSTRUCTION (M) SDN BHD is seeking a QA/QC Engineer to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and contract requirements for on-site and off-site construction works in Sarawak.

The role involves inspection and verification of QA/QC activities, coordination with Consultants and Site In-Charge, and closure of NCRs. Candidates should have 3–5 years’ experience in civil/infrastructure projects and solid knowledge of QMS and ISO 9001.

• Report to the QA/QC Manager and monitor activities related to the Quality Management System (QMS).
• Maintain and control QA/QC documentation including certificates, test results, NCRs, and site records.
• Prepare and develop Method Statements, JSA/JHA, ITPs, and quality checklists.
• Conduct Internal Quality Audits at the site as scheduled in the PQP.

Job description

Perform daily inspections and tests as required to ensure the quality of construction works complies with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements for all works carried out on-site and off-site.

Carry out inspection and verification of all quality-related site activities to ensure compliance with approved Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).

Coordinate with the Consultant’s Representative and Site In-Charge for inspections, quality meetings, and resolution of quality issues, including the closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Report to the QA/QC Manager and monitor all activities related to the Quality Management System (QMS).

Maintain and control all QA/QC documentation for the project, including material certificates, calibration records, test results, inspection requests, NCRs, Site Instructions (SI), site observations, and records of permanent materials delivered to site.

Ensure timely closure of NCRs, Site Instructions (SI), and other quality-related issues.

Be responsible for the quality and workmanship of all construction activities, with sound knowledge of civil, architectural, and structural works, and coordination across multidisciplinary operations.

Prepare and develop Method Statements, including Risk Assessment, Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA), Inspection & Test Plans, and quality checklists in accordance with project specifications.

Conduct Internal Quality Audits at the site as scheduled in the Project Quality Plan (PQP).

Liaise with the Technical Engineer for the preparation and submission of material submittals to the Consultant for approval.

JOB REQUIREMENT

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.

Minimum 3–5 years of working experience as a QA/QC Engineer in construction or infrastructure projects.

Strong experience in civil, structural, and architectural works.

Experience handling QA/QC documentation, NCRs, ITPs, method statements, and audits.

Prior experience working on remote or Sarawak-based projects is an advantage.

Good knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001 requirements.

Familiar with Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Project Quality Plan (PQP), method statements, and checklists.

Able to interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and contract requirements.

Experience in material submittals, inspections, and coordination with consultants.

Knowledge of Malaysian Standards, relevant codes of practice, and site quality control procedures.

Good documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills.
