Job description

Responsible to ensure efficient daily production operations by overseeing line performance, solving immediate issues, coordinating manpower and materials, and supporting short-term planning. The Production Engineer acts as the bridge between planning, operations, and support teams to ensure timely delivery, quality, and safe practices on the shop floor

Production Planning & Control

Supervise and monitor daily output against planned schedules and take immediate action when variances occur.

Ensure sufficient resources and manpower availability for scheduled production.

Coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime and improve machine efficiency

Coordinate with QA and Die Maintenance department to improve quality product and rejection

Line Performance & Efficiency

Monitor key metrics (output rate, downtime, utilization) and lead quick countermeasures for any gaps.

Optimize machine changeovers and manpower allocation to improve productivity and reduce idle time.

Problem-Solving & Escalation

Address real-time production issues and escalation unresolved matters to relevant departments.

Participate in daily production meetings and communicate targets and issues to the team.

Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformities.

Resource Planning

Collaborate with planning to align production capacity with customer delivery timelines.

Forecast manpower needs and assist in shift planning and job rotation.

Reporting & Documentation

Maintain accurate daily production reports (output, scrap, downtime) and present performance summaries to supervisors.

Prepare production reports, efficiency analysis, and cost monitoring.

Maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.

Attending external & internal audits.

Technical Training and Support

Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to production staff during the introduction of new processes or equipment.

Ensure understanding and proper usage of new tools, layouts, or systems.

Work closely with R&D, Quality and Maintenance if any support needed.

Collaborate with maintenance team to ensure machines are in optimal working condition.

Liaise with suppliers and vendors for technical improvements.

Departmental Supervision and Manpower Planning

Oversee process-related activities and efficiency for selected production departments.

Work with Engineers/Officers/supervisors to analyze manpower performance and identify gaps in productivity.

Identify opportunities to streamline resource usage and improve labor efficiency.

Collaborate with Engineers/Officers/supervisors to improve work assignments and daily operational flow.

Recommend workforce reallocation, job redesign, or training to enhance operational output.

Documentation and Compliance

Prepare and maintain up-to-date documentation for processes, SOPs, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Safety, Environment and Housekeeping:

Ensure all staff follow safety procedures and monitor and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment across the department.

Oversee proper handling and disposal of materials in accordance with environmental guidelines.

Address and act on any reported safety, housekeeping, or environmental concerns promptly.

Enforcing and ensuring the implementation of the company’s policies, rules, and regulations.
