Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks a Quality Assurance and Engineering leader to drive AS9100 maintenance, audits, and continuous improvement in aerospace manufacturing. You will manage the QA system, coordinate shop-floor quality activities, and guide engineering handovers for new and returning work packages.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace quality, strong AS9100/ISO9001 auditing, and leadership experience. On-site in Klang Valley; 6-month contract with potential permanent status after milestones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years quality experience in aerospace or precision machining.
• At least 2 years in a managerial or lead role.
• Hands-on AS9100 experience; audit leadership is a strong advantage.
• Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article, CMTR/materal traceability, GD&T, and CMM-based inspection.
• Trained internal auditor (AS9100/ISO 9001); lead auditor certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Own AS9100 maintenance, timeline, audit readiness; act as QMR to the certification body.
• Rebuild and control the quality manual, procedures, and records; close legacy audit findings.
• Run the NCR/CAPA system with root-cause discipline (8D/5-Why).
• Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection; manage calibration of measurement equipment (CMM, hand tools).
• Approve First Article inspection reports (AS9102) and material traceability packages before shipment.
• Own engineering documentation: control of customer drawings, revisions, specifications, and process routings.
• Lead First Article and requalification engineering: process planning, inspection planning, and AS9102 package preparation.
• Support quotations with process routings, cycle-time estimates, and special-process requirements.
• Train and coach production staff on quality requirements; support HR on competence records required by AS9100.
• Work with Operations daily review; ensure quality decisions and smooth handover.

Key Responsibilities

Quality System & Certification

• Own the AS9100 maintenance and improvement, timeline, and audit readiness; act as management representative (QMR) to the certification body.
• Rebuild and control the quality manual, procedures, and records; close legacy audit findings.
• Run the NCR/CAPA system with root-cause discipline (8D/5-Why) and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.

Shop-Floor Quality

• Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection; manage calibration of measurement equipment (CMM, hand tools).
• Approve First Article inspection reports (AS9102) and material traceability (CMTR) packages before shipment.

Engineering (Combined Scope)

• Own engineering documentation: control of customer drawings, revisions, specifications, and process routings.
• Lead First Article and requalification engineering: process planning, inspection planning, and AS9102 package preparation for new and returning work packages.
• Support quotations with process routings, cycle-time estimates, and special-process requirements (heat treat, surface treatment) for Business Development and Finance.
• Drive process improvement and scrap/rework reduction with the shop floor.

Customer & Supplier Compliance

• Customer-facing compliance: represent quality and engineering in customer calls, audits, and the ongoing pricing/requalification discussions.
• Supplier quality: qualify and monitor critical suppliers (material, heat treatment, surface treatment, calibration labs).
• Train and coach production staff on quality requirements; support HR on competence records required by AS9100.

Operations Interface & Engineering Handover

• Work with the Operations Manager through a joint daily review: inspection capacity, hold/release status, and First Article lot scheduling — the Operations Manager owns the floor; this role owns quality and engineering decisions.
• Receive a structured 60–90 day engineering handover from the incumbent Production & Engineering Manager (routings, fixtures, cycle times, customer-specific practices); the incumbent remains the consulted expert during transition.
• Note: quality release authority remains independent — this role is never accountable for output targets, preserving AS9100 impartiality.

Requirements

• 5+ years quality experience in aerospace or precision machining, with at least 2 years in a managerial or lead role.
• Manufacturing or quality engineering background: able to plan machining processes, prepare routings, and estimate cycle times (a strong plus) — not documentation-only experience.
• Hands-on AS9100 experience is mandatory; direct experience preparing for or recovering a certification audit is a strong advantage.
• Working knowledge of AS9102 First Article, CMTR/material traceability, GD&T, and CMM-based inspection.
• Trained internal auditor (AS9100/ISO 9001); lead auditor certification an advantage.
• Comfortable operating in a lean, distressed-turnaround environment with limited support staff.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin an advantage for supplier coordination.

Probation is a 6-month fixed-term contract at full salary, with confirmation milestones agreed in writing at offer. Upon confirmation, the role converts to permanent employment with full benefits (medical coverage, annual leave, and bonus eligibility).
