GENCODE SDN BHD is seeking a Software QA Engineer to plan, execute, and oversee extensive testing across web, mobile, and API integrations. You will design test plans, contribute to automation strategies, and collaborate with developers to ensure quality releases.

The role emphasizes manual testing, defect management, and participation in agile ceremonies. Applicants should have 2–5 years of QA experience, strong analytical skills, and familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
2–5 years of relevant experience in software QA / software testing.
Strong experience in manual software testing and test case preparation.
Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, defect management and software testing methodologies.
Experience testing web applications, mobile applications and APIs.
Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium or equivalent.
Good knowledge of AI-assisted software testing techniques and AI-powered QA tools.
Experience using AI tools for test case generation, test automation, defect analysis or test optimisation is an advantage.
Good understanding of API testing and REST APIs.
Experience with tools such as Jira, Postman, TestRail or equivalent is an advantage.
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development practices is an advantage.
Knowledge or experience with ISO 27001 / ISMS is an advantage.
Experience supporting security or compliance audits is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with developers, product teams and business users.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and execute test cases based on business and functional requirements.
Perform functional, regression, integration, system and exploratory testing.
Test web applications, mobile applications, APIs and system integrations.
Verify software functionality, usability, performance and reliability before release.
Identify, document, track and follow up on software defects through to resolution.
Perform retesting and regression testing after defects have been fixed.
Ensure software releases meet defined quality standards and acceptance criteria.
Identify potential quality risks early in the software development lifecycle.
Test planning & documentation: prepare and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases and test data.
Review requirements to identify testing needs and risks.
Maintain proper testing documentation and evidence throughout the SDLC.
Provide test results, QA status and defect reports for reviews.
Ensure testing activities are properly documented and traceable.
Identify, reproduce and document defects with clear steps, evidence and expected results.
Work closely with developers to investigate and resolve defects.
Prioritise and track defects by severity and release needs.
Monitor outstanding defects and ensure critical issues are addressed before production release.
Analyse defect trends and recommend improvements to reduce recurring defects.
QA Process & Continuous Improvement: establish and maintain QA practices across projects.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning and release planning.
Promote a quality-focused culture and suggest tools/technologies to improve quality.
