Job summary

Private Advertiser in Malaysia seeks a Purchasing Manager to own end-to-end procurement: sourcing, imports, costing and stock health. You will build systems that ensure efficient, transparent, and cost-effective purchasing processes across the organization.

You will manage local and overseas suppliers, negotiate terms, coordinate with production, and forecast imports to align with production schedules. Candidates with 1–3 years in seafood procurement and strong negotiation skills are encouraged

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in seafood, frozen food, F&B.
• Experience with local sourcing and import purchasing.
• Experience in forecasting and product costing.
• Experience setting up procurement systems, workflows and internal controls.
• Strong negotiation skills and a track record of managing suppliers.
• Familiarity with import documentation, Incoterms and customs procedures.
• Good understanding of food safety standards (ISO 22000, HACCP, HALAL, GMP).
• Proficiency in accounting and inventory systems.
• Able to communicate in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added value.

Responsibilities

• Source seafood, raw materials, packaging and general supplies at the right quality, price and lead time.
• Set up and improve purchasing systems, procedures and workflows across the procurement cycle.
• Develop supplier evaluation and performance frameworks, including price benchmarking.
• Manage local and overseas suppliers, including import purchasing and shipping coordination.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and supply agreements.
• Work with the production team to plan imports around production needs and schedules.
• Handle forecasting and budgeting for imports to ensure adequate supply and cost control.
• Raise and manage purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure on-time supply.
• Prepare product costing to support the sales team's pricing and quotations.
• Monitor stock levels with the warehouse team and check for non-moving items to avoid overstocking.
• Handle import documentation, customs clearance and coordinate with forwarders.
• Evaluate and approve suppliers, and maintain an approved supplier list.
• Ensure purchased goods meet ISO 22000, HACCP, HALAL and GMP standards.
• Track and report cost savings, price trends and supplier performance.
• Resolve supply issues, quality complaints and delivery disputes with suppliers.

For over 30 years, we have built our business around quality seafood, dependable service and long-term customer relationships. We supply fresh, frozen and smoked products to hotels, restaurants, cafes, retailers and QSR operators across Malaysia.

We are an ISO 22000:2018, HACCP, HALAL and GMP certified company. We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to take ownership of our end-to-end supply chain - sourcing, imports, costing and stock health - and to build the systems and controls that keep procurement efficient, transparent and cost-effective.
