The Procurement Manager will lead purchasing operations, vendor management, and strategic supply chain planning for manufacturing operations. Based at the facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor, this role oversees direct and indirect material procurement to secure competitive material costs while upholding strict food safety standards.
Reporting directly to the Business Development Director, you will manage a dedicated procurement team, negotiate vendor contracts, establish performance metrics, and support compliance with key quality and safety frameworks (HACCP, GMP, FSSC22000, BRC, IFS, HALAL etc..).
Material Procurement: Oversee end-to-end purchasing of all direct and indirect raw materials, packaging, and operating supplies necessary for manufacturing operations.
Cost & Quality Management: Drive procurement strategies to achieve competitive material pricing, optimize inventory turnover, and ensure purchased goods meet specified quality standards.
Supply Chain Support: Collaborate with operational teams on supply chain forecasting, demand planning, and inventory control.
Supplier Lifecycle: Manage vendor identification, evaluation, onboarding, and ongoing relationship development.
Contract Negotiations: Lead commercial negotiations for pricing, payment terms, and delivery parameters; draft and execute vendor agreements.
Performance Tracking: Monitor supplier performance against key performance indicators ($KPIs$), ensuring consistent quality, on-time delivery, and accountability.
Regulatory Compliance: Review and support procurement controls aligned with food safety management systems, including HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000, BRC, IFS, and HALAL certifications.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and build technical capacity within the internal purchasing team, promoting continuous process improvement.
Academic Credentials: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
Professional Tenure: Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing operations.
Leadership Track Record: Minimum 2 years of proven leadership experience at a Managerial level supervising purchasing teams. Experience in leading a team is an advantage.
Sector Familiarity: Prior experience within food manufacturing, processing, or FMCG industries is strongly preferred.
System Competency: Proficient in standard computer applications, Microsoft Excel, and enterprise inventory/procurement systems.
Travel Mobility: Willingness to travel periodically for supplier audits, plant visits, and contract discussions as required.
