Job summary

YUMI FOOD SDN. BHD. in Alor Setar, Kedah is seeking a Purchasing Executive to join our manufacturing and logistics operations. You will manage the procurement of materials, negotiate with suppliers, and maintain supplier relationships to support efficient supply chains and profitability.

The role requires 1–3 years in purchasing or related fields, with a Diploma/degree in Business, Commerce or SCM preferred. Proficiency in Excel and procurement systems is expected in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience in purchasing, procurement or inventory management.
• Diploma or degree in Business, Commerce, SCM or related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management.
• Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in Excel and procurement/inventory systems.
• Detail-oriented with good communication and time management.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing and evaluating suppliers for quality, capability and pricing.
• Prepare and issue Purchase Orders with accurate specs and delivery dates.
• Negotiate pricing and payment terms with suppliers.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate with warehouse to ensure availability.
• Track orders, expediting when needed and resolving delays.
• Maintain records of purchases, supplier data and pricing terms.
• Liaise between departments and suppliers to resolve procurement issues.
• Analyze purchasing data and report on cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethics.
• Support development of supplier relationships for long-term partnerships.

YUMI FOOD SDN. BHD. is seeking a Purchasing Executive to join our dynamic team in Alor Setar, Kedah. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our manufacturing and logistics operations. As a Purchasing Executive, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, goods and services essential to our business operations. This role is integral to ensuring we maintain efficient supply chains, competitive costs and strong supplier relationships that directly impact our operational success and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing and identifying potential suppliers and evaluating their capabilities, quality standards and pricing
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in specifications, quantities and delivery schedules
• Negotiating with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favourable payment terms
• Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with warehouse and operations teams to ensure adequate stock availability
• Tracking and expediting orders to ensure timely delivery and addressing any delays or issues
• Maintaining detailed records of purchases, supplier information and pricing agreements
• Liaising between internal departments and external suppliers to resolve procurement-related issues
• Analysing purchasing data and preparing reports on procurement activities and cost savings
• Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and procedures
• Supporting the development and maintenance of supplier relationships to foster long-term partnerships

What we're looking for

• Secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification; a diploma or degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management or related field is preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement or inventory management role, preferably within the manufacturing or food industry
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management and inventory control practices
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain positive supplier relationships
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with procurement or inventory management systems
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling purchase orders and procurement documentation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to address procurement challenges and optimise costs
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining professional standards and ethical procurement practices
