Job summary

MTD Industries Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Purchaser (Intern) to support the procurement team at our Johor location. This internship offers hands-on exposure to supplier management, PO processing and inventory control within a busy manufacturing and logistics environment.

You will work under experienced professionals, develop foundational skills in procurement and supply chain, and gain practical experience that complements your degree.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, Logistics or a related field.
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Attention to detail and accuracy when processing documentation and data.
• A keen interest in learning about procurement, supply chain and inventory management.
• Professional attitude with a commitment to supporting team objectives.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction from senior staff.
• Basic understanding of purchasing principles and supply chain concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing and evaluating suppliers for required materials and components.
• Support the processing of purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement records.
• Help maintain and update inventory systems and tracking documentation.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules and pricing inquiries.
• Assist in preparing purchase requisitions and supporting documentation.
• Support the monitoring of supplier performance and delivery timelines.
• Help compile and analyse procurement data and reports.
• Contribute to the organisation and filing of procurement files and contracts.

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Purchaser (Intern) to join our procurement team at our Taman Desa Cemerlang Johor location. This is a full-time internship opportunity designed to provide practical experience in the purchasing and procurement function within a dynamic manufacturing and logistics environment.
In this role, you will support the purchasing team in managing supplier relationships, processing purchase orders, and maintaining inventory systems. This internship will give you valuable exposure to real-world procurement operations and help you develop foundational skills in supply chain management whilst working alongside experienced professionals.

Key responsibilities
