Job summary

The Prestige Hotel on Penang Island, Penang seeks a dedicated Public Area Attendant to join our housekeeping team on a full-time basis. You will keep all hotel public spaces spotless, welcoming, and well-maintained to create a positive first impression for guests throughout the day.

Key duties include cleaning lobbies, corridors, restrooms and common areas, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, restocking amenities, and reporting maintenance issues while following health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Fresh graduates welcomed.
• Strong interpersonal skills with fluency in English.
• Self-starter, goal oriented, and an eye for details.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all public areas including lobbies, corridors, stairwells, lifts, restrooms and common spaces to the highest standards.
• Vacuum, mop, dust and polish surfaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and materials.
• Empty and replace waste bins throughout public areas and maintain refuse disposal areas.
• Restock restrooms with soap, towels, toilet paper and hand sanitiser.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, damage or hazards to management immediately.
• Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks.
• Follow health and safety procedures and use protective equipment correctly.
• Respond to guest requests for additional cleaning or maintenance of public spaces.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers and pressure washers.
• Maintain cleanliness standards during peak hours and high-traffic areas.
• Support the housekeeping team to ensure seamless operations throughout the hotel.

About the role The Prestige Hotel is seeking a dedicated Public Area Attendant to join our housekeeping team on a full-time basis. This position is based at our hotel located on Penang Island, Penang, and is essential to maintaining the exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation that our guests expect. As a Public Area Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring all common areas of the hotel remain spotless, welcoming, and well-maintained throughout the day. This role is critical to creating a positive first impression and maintaining guest satisfaction across all public spaces.

Key responsibilities

Cleaning and maintaining all public areas including lobbies, corridors, stairwells, lifts, restrooms and common spaces to the highest standards

Vacuuming, mopping, dusting and polishing surfaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and materials

Emptying and replacing waste bins throughout public areas and maintaining refuse disposal areas

Restocking restrooms with necessary supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper and hand sanitiser

Identifying and reporting any maintenance issues, damage or hazards to management immediately

Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks.

Following all health and safety procedures and using protective equipment correctly

Responding promptly to guest requests for additional cleaning or maintenance of public spaces

Operating cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers and pressure washers
