Job summary

Regent Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Public Area Manager to oversee the hotel's public spaces, ensuring quiet, refined luxury from morning to night. You will lead Public Area Attendants, coordinate pest control, landscaping and external contractors, and uphold Regent's cleanliness and safety standards.

Responsibilities include staffing, budgeting, guest requests, and collaboration with other department heads to deliver exceptional experiences while supporting sustainability and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality or Hotel Management and/or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years' public area or housekeeping experience, including supervisory or management experience.
• Experience handling audits and inventory management.
• Fluent English required; other languages an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train and coach Public Area Attendants on SOPs, fire safety, chemical usage and IHG Clean Promise.
• Prepare staffing schedules, tasks and performance goals for the public area team with regular feedback.
• Coordinate pest control, landscaping and deep cleaning across hotel public spaces.
• Monitor and manage the public area budget and inventory to control costs.
• Inspect all public areas for cleanliness, safety and aesthetics; address guest requests and issues.
• Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities and operating hours to assist guests confidently.

As Public Area Manager, you take ownership of every space guests pass through beyond the guest room — lobbies, corridors, event spaces, restrooms and outdoor grounds — ensuring each reflects Regent's standard of quiet, considered luxury from morning arrival to evening turn down. You lead the Public Area Attendants, coordinating pest control, landscaping and external contractors to keep every detail in order, so guests feel the same sense of calm everywhere they walk.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

People

• Lead, train and coach Public Area Attendants on Standard Operating Procedures, fire safety, chemical usage and the IHG Way of Clean Process
• Prepare staffing schedules, task assignments and performance goals for the public area team, providing regular feedback and mentoring
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other department heads
• Supervise and coordinate pest control, landscaping and periodical deep cleaning operations across the hotel's public spaces
• Support the public area team during high volume periods and major events

Financial

• Prepare and monitor the public area budget with a focus on increasing profitability
• Maintain proper inventory levels and control costs for public area supplies, equipment and labour

Guest Experience

• Inspect all public areas, lobbies and facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety and aesthetic standards in accordance with IHG Clean Promise are consistently met
• Respond to guest requests and immediately address, or expand, issues and complaints regarding public areas
• Carry out the special requests of guests, VIPs, repeat visitors and club members
• Maintain full knowledge of all hotel guest facilities and operating hours, including restaurants, bars and meeting spaces, to assist guests confidently

Responsible Business

• Maintain and order supplies and equipment in a timely, efficient manner, minimising waste and supporting the hotel's sustainability initiatives
• Maintain procedures for the security of lost and found items in public areas
• Report maintenance defects and safety hazards to the Engineering Department; perform other duties as assigned and may serve as manager on duty

Accountabilities

• Leads the Public Area team, overseeing Public Area Attendants across the hotel's public spaces
• Consistent delivery of Regent's cleanliness, safety and presentation standards across all public areas and facilities
• Effective coordination of pest control, landscaping and periodical cleaning contractors
• Accurate budget management and inventory control for public area supplies and labour

What We Need From You
