Job summary

Kejuruteraan Powerwell Sdn Bhd is seeking an engineering professional to support the Technical Director in the design, integration and development of a containerized Power Transformer Unit (PTU) for data centre applications. The role focuses on 2D/3D design, equipment integration and hands-on coordination in Shah Alam.

The candidate will develop CAD models, review interfaces with transformers, switchboards, UPS, cooling and BMS/SCADA, and ensure safe, compliant layouts.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in system integration, mechanical design or modular infrastructure.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and refine PTU engineering designs, layouts, specifications, and system configurations.
• Prepare and maintain 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for PTU.
• Coordinate integration of electrical equipment, transformers, switchboards, UPS, cooling, fire protection and BMS/SCADA within the containerized enclosure.
• Review dimensions, spatial requirements, cable routing, access clearances, and supports to resolve design clashes.
• Coordinate with suppliers, fabricators and internal teams to verify interfaces and ensure compatibility with PTU design.
• Support prototype development, fabrication, assembly and testing of PTU demonstration in Shah Alam, including troubleshooting and design improvements.
• Assist in BOMs, specifications, documentation and revision control.
• Identify opportunities for design optimization, space utilization and simplified installation while maintaining safety and quality.
• Monitor deliverables, coordinate changes and report progress to Technical Director.

Job description

To support the Technical Director in the engineering design, system integration and development of Powerwell’s containerized Power Transformer Unit (PTU) for data centre applications. The role focuses on 2D/3D design, multidisciplinary equipment integration and hands-on engineering coordination of the PTU.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with the Technical Director to develop, review and refine PTU engineering designs, layouts, technical specifications and overall system configurations.

Prepare, develop and maintain 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models, including general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, installation details and fabrication drawings.

Coordinate the physical integration of electrical equipment, transformers, switchboards, UPS systems, CRAC/cooling systems, fire protection and BMS/SCADA within the containerized enclosure.

Review equipment dimensions, spatial requirements, cable routing, access clearances, structural supports, ventilation and maintenance provisions to identify and resolve potential design clashes.

Coordinate with equipment suppliers, fabricators and internal engineering teams to obtain technical drawings, verify equipment interfaces and ensure compatibility with the overall PTU design.

Support the engineering development, fabrication, assembly and testing of Powerwell’s PTU demonstration prototype in Shah Alam, including troubleshooting and design improvements.

Assist in preparing bills of materials (BOMs), technical specifications, engineering documentation and design revision records.

Identify opportunities for design optimization, improved space utilization and simplified installation while maintaining technical requirements, safety and quality.

Monitor assigned engineering deliverables, coordinate design changes and provide progress updates to the Technical Director.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience in system integration, mechanical design, industrial equipment packaging or modular infrastructure.

Proficient in AutoCAD and 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or equivalent.

Strong understanding of equipment layout, mechanical integration, spatial coordination and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.

Able to independently manage engineering assignments, coordinate with suppliers and resolve practical design issues.

Hands‑on, proactive and capable of working closely with the Technical Director to deliver engineering milestones.

May require travelling to Kuching, Sarawak if requested by management.

Preferred Experience

Direct experience in PTUs, E‑houses, containerized substations, modular data centres, skid‑mounted systems or other packaged industrial solutions. Familiarity with HVAC/CRAC, fire protection integration and BMS/SCADA is an advantage.
