Job summary

Persistent Systems is seeking a highly experienced Support Manager in Selangor, Malaysia. You will lead a team of engineers responsible for backup and storage operations across VM, OS, VMware, on-prem and cloud environments.

You will drive automation, ITIL processes, and incident management to ensure reliable performance. The role requires 10–12 years of infrastructure/backup experience, strong Windows/Linux, VMware expertise, and knowledge of backup tools.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years in infrastructure/backup operations.
• Technical understanding of Windows/Linux servers, VMware/Hyper-V, and networking.
• Knowledge of backup tools: Commvault, NetBackup, Veeam, Veritas.
• ITSM tools: ServiceNow, Jira.
• Automation: PowerShell and Bash.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of L1/L2 engineers handling day-to-day backup/storage operations.
• Monitor incident queues, prioritize issues, and ensure SLA compliance.
• Oversee policy-based backups for VMs, OS, VMware, databases, virtualization and storage systems (on-prem/cloud).
• Handle escalations, issues, and ensure timely resolution.
• Coordinate with L3 teams and vendors for escalations.
• Implement ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management.
• Drive automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with customer-side support engineers to identify gaps and implement improvements.
• Manage resource allocation, timelines, and risk mitigation.

About Position

• The Support Manager will lead a team of engineers to ensure reliable and secure backup and storage operations across virtual machines, operating systems, VMware environments, on-premises and cloud storage, and multiple database platforms. The role ensures adherence to automates routine operations, manages incidents and drives continuous improvement.

What You'll Do
