Job summary

ABS Engineering & Trading Sdn Bhd is seeking a proactive Project Planning Engineer to drive project planning and coordination across engineering teams. You will develop schedules, monitor progress, and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure milestone achievements.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanical/industrial-related degree and have 1–2 years in project planning, with strong Excel/Project skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in mechanical/industrial/manufacturing/mechatronics.
• 1–2 years of experience in project planning or coordination in an engineering/industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling, resource planning and execution processes.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Proficient in Excel, MS Project or similar scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure on-time completion.
• Coordinate activities and resources across Engineering, Purchasing, Stores, Workshop, and related departments.
• Plan, release, monitor, and close project work orders per requirements.
• Monitor progress, identify risks/delays and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure drawings, documents, materials, and project info align with schedules.

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and organized Project Planning Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys planning, coordinating, and driving projects to successful completion. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are executed according to schedule by coordinating resources, monitoring progress, and working closely with internal departments to achieve project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure projects are completed within the agreed timeline.

Coordinate project activities and resources across Engineering, Technical, Purchasing, Stores, Workshop, and other relevant departments.

Plan, release, monitor, update, and close project work orders in accordance with project requirements.

Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.

Ensure engineering drawings, technical documents, materials, and project information are available according to project schedules.

Liaise closely with engineers, technicians, store personnel, suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Track project deliverables and monitor project milestones against the approved schedule.

Provide regular updates on project progress, resource requirements, and potential risks to management.

Coordinate schedule revisions whenever project priorities or customer requirements change.

Assist in project planning meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes.

Prepare project progress reports, KPI updates, and project performance summaries for management review.

Support multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring priorities and deadlines are achieved.

Maintain accurate project documentation and planning records throughout the project lifecycle.

Work closely with the Project Manager and Engineering team to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in project planning, project coordination, project engineering, or project management within an engineering or industrial environment.

Strong understanding of project scheduling, resource planning, and project execution processes.

Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering projects is an added advantage.

Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, or other project scheduling software.

Experience using ERP or project management systems will be an advantage.

Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive working attitude.

Fresh graduates with a Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics or related Engineering disciplines are encouraged to apply. Comprehensive training will be provided.
