Job summary

Universal Peak Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead utility EPC projects including substations, transmission lines and underground cable works in Malaysia.

You will manage mobilisation, scheduling, procurement and cross-functional teams across civil, electrical, protection and testing disciplines. The role requires a minimum 10 years in project delivery, with at least 5 years in power utility EPC projects in Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of project delivery experience; at least 5 in power utility or grid-connected EPC projects in Malaysia.
• Proven experience delivering at least one 132 kV or higher utility project as PM or Deputy PM.
• Experience in substations, transmission lines or underground power cable projects.
• Practical knowledge of TNB or other Malaysian utility standards, approvals, inspections and energisation procedures.
• Strong project planning, procurement, subcontractor management, cost control and contractual administration skills.
• MS Project or Primavera P6 proficiency and progress reporting; Excel.
• PMP or equivalent certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead project execution from mobilisation through testing, energisation, handover and close-out.
• Develop and monitor schedules, critical paths, manpower allocation, procurement priorities and cash-flow.
• Lead Project Engineers, site personnel and subcontractors across civil, electrical, protection and testing.
• Coordinate with TNB, utility providers, clients and authorities for approvals and energisation.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, variations, extension notices, and subcontractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, QA/QC and contractual requirements.
• Prepare weekly progress reports, risk assessments and recovery plans.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, as-built docs and handover.

Project Manager – Utility EPC (Substation, Transmission & Distribution)

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of utility Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects involving substations, transmission lines and underground power cable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Manage project execution from mobilisation through testing, energisation, handover and contract close-out.

Develop and monitor project schedules, critical paths, manpower allocation, procurement priorities and cash-flow requirements.

Lead Project Engineers, site personnel and subcontractors across civil, structural, electrical, protection and control, testing and commissioning activities.

Coordinate with TNB, utility providers, clients, consultants and authorities regarding approvals, permits, inspections and energisation.

Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, variations, extension-of-time notices, claims and subcontractor performance.

Ensure compliance with project HSE, QA/QC and contractual requirements.

Prepare weekly progress reports, risk assessments, recovery plans and management updates.

Oversee testing, commissioning, as-built documentation and project handover.

Requirement

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering.

Minimum 10 years of relevant project delivery experience, including at least 5 recent years in power utility or grid-connected EPC projects in Malaysia.

Proven experience delivering at least one 132 kV or higher utility project as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager.

Experience in substations, transmission lines or underground power cable projects.

Practical knowledge of TNB or other Malaysian utility standards, approvals, inspections and energisation procedures.

Strong project planning, procurement, subcontractor management, cost control and contractual administration skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel and progress reporting.

PMP or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.

Must be based in Malaysia, legally eligible to work in Malaysia and available for deployment to project sites.
