Unicomp Group has an exciting opportunity for a suitably experience and qualified candidate to bring their expertise, insight and experience to a key role within the organization. The role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
About the Role
The Project Manager will drive and monitor the post-merger integration (PMI) process for newly acquired businesses and joint ventures (JVs), ensuring integration plans are executed on schedule, milestones are tracked, and issues are escalated and resolved. This role is primarily focused on the post-integration phase — translating the agreed strategy and integration plan into a structured project roadmap, and managing its execution on the ground. The Project Manager will also collaborate with the M&A Manager based in Singapore to support pre-deal / due diligence activities as needed, providing local market and integration-feasibility input, but the primary ownership of pre-deal strategy sits with the Singapore-based M&A Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Post-Integration Project Management (Primary Focus)
- Own the post-merger integration project plan for each newly acquired business or JV — including milestones, owners, timelines, and success metrics
- Track integration progress against plan (e.g. 100-day plan, first-year targets) and report status regularly
- Identify execution risks and delays early, and coordinate with leaders to resolve or escape them
- Maintain a structured governance cadence (e.g. steering committee updates, integration status reviews) throughout the integration period
- Ensure integration workstreams (finance, HR, operations, systems) stay aligned and on schedule, coordinating across functional owners
2. Support for Pre-M&A Activities (As Needed)
- Collaborate with the Singapore-based M&A Manager to support due diligence activities when required, including gathering local market, HR, and operational information
- Provide input on integration feasibility during deal evaluation, based on on-the-ground knowledge of the regional market
- Assist in early-stage planning discussions to ensure a smooth handover from deal-closing to post-integration execution
3. Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for integration progress between the newly acquired business/JV leadership, COE, and Group Strategy & M&A
- Coordinate with COE-deployed leadership on leadership deployment and governance matters relevant to integration progress
- Prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and updates for senior leadership review
- Capture lessons learned from each integration to improve the Group's playbook and templates for future deals
- Support standardization of integration processes and tools across projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; PMP or equivalent project management certification is an advantage
- 5–8 years of experience in project management, PMO, post-merger integration (PMI), or corporate development, with direct experience tracking or managing integration or transformation projects
- Experience supporting or coordinating M&A-related projects preferred; hands-on strategy design experience is not required
- Experience working across borders or cultures is an advantage, given coordination with Singapore and regional stakeholders
- Fluency in Chinese is preferred to liaise with the HQ team in China.
