The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution and delivery of customised automation, inspection and production equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, internal engineering teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure each project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget and according to the agreed technical requirements. This is a hands‑on position involving both factory‑based project management and customer‑site activities. The Project Manager is expected to remain involved through equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, customer acceptance, final buy‑off and site‑support activities.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the complete project lifecycle from order confirmation and project kick-off to final customer acceptance and project closure.
- Develop and maintain the project schedule, key milestones, manpower plan, procurement timeline, installation programme and project budget.
- Review customer specifications, project scope, technical requirements, deliverables and acceptance criteria.
- Identify project risks, technical issues, delays and cost implications, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management and customers.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, control, software, machine‑vision, procurement and production teams.
- Ensure that engineering drawings, bills of materials, control specifications, software requirements and technical documentation are completed according to schedule.
- Monitor equipment fabrication, mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, piping, programming and system integration at the factory.
- Plan and coordinate equipment delivery, move-in, positioning, installation, facility hook‑up and site preparation.
- Serve as the main point of contact between Metadyne and the customer throughout the project.
About you
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial automation, machine building, production‑line installation or engineering project management.
- Practical experience managing customised equipment projects from design and factory assembly through installation, commissioning and customer buy‑off.
- Good understanding of mechanical assembly, electrical controls, PLC systems, machine vision, process piping or industrial equipment integration.
- Able to understand technical drawings, equipment layouts, project schedules, bills of materials and customer specifications.
- Strong planning, coordination, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Good communication and customer‑management skills.
- Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and working English. Mandarin is an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Microsoft Project or other project‑management software is an advantage.
- Possess a valid driving licence and own transport.
- Monthly salary of RM5,000–RM7,000, depending on experience and technical competency.
- EPF, SOCSO and EIS contributions.
