Destination Resorts and Hotels Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is hiring a Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of hotel and resort development, refurbishment, and A&A projects, ensuring safety, quality, and budget compliance within the approved schedule.
The role requires thorough planning, programming, coordination and cost control, acting as the principal liaison between the Company, consultants, contractors and operational teams throughout the project lifecycle.
The Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of hotel and resort development, refurbishment, and additions and alterations (A&A) projects on behalf of Destination Resorts & Hotels. The role holder will plan, programme, coordinate and control construction works to ensure that each project is completed safely, to the required quality standards, within the approved budget, and in accordance with the agreed schedule. The Project Manager will act as the principal point of coordination between the Company, its appointed consultants, contractors, and operational stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Planning & Scheduling
∙ Programme development – prepare, maintain and update detailed project programmes and baseline schedules covering design, procurement, and construction phases.
∙ Critical path management – monitor progress against the master schedule using critical path analysis, identify slippages early, and implement recovery measures.
∙ Resource sequencing – coordinate the sequencing of works, resources and milestones across multiple work packages and disciplines.
∙ Progress reporting – produce regular progress reports, look-ahead programmes and S-curves for management and stakeholders.
Project Delivery & Coordination
∙ Manage development, refurbishment and A&A projects from inception through to handover and defects liability.
∙ Coordinate the activities of architects, quantity surveyors, C&S and M&E engineers, interior designers and specialist contractors.
∙ Review and administer contracts, variations, instructions and claims in line with Company procedures.
∙ Liaise with hotel operations teams to minimise disruption where works are carried out in live or partially operational premises.
Cost, Quality & Compliance
∙ Support budgeting, tendering and procurement, and monitor project expenditure against the approved budget.
∙ Enforce quality standards, inspect works, and ensure compliance with statutory, safety and regulatory requirements.
∙ Manage project risks and maintain accurate project documentation, records and reporting throughout the works.
∙ Oversee testing, commissioning, handover and close-out, including the resolution of defects during the liability period.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
∙ Education – a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building or a related field.
∙ Experience – 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in project management for construction works, with a demonstrable record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
∙ Planning & scheduling – proven experience in construction planning and scheduling, including the preparation and management of project programmes and critical path analysis.
∙ Computer literacy – proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); familiarity with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 is expected.
∙ Language – good written and spoken command of English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage.
DESIRABLE (ADVANTAGEOUS)
∙ Experience gained within the hospitality and tourism industry, particularly on hotel or resort projects.
∙ Experience with additions and alterations (A&A) works in operational hotel environments.
∙ Professional membership or registration with a recognised industry body (e.g. BEM, PMI or equivalent).
