Job summary

Port of Tanjung Pelepas is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Project Support team. The role involves supporting project managers across project engineering, management, site coordination and QA/QC activities within port and maritime infrastructure environments.

The ideal candidate may be a fresh graduate or have up to several years of project management experience in civil, infrastructure or port sectors, with exposure to building services and marine projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or related field.
• Preferably 3 years of project management experience in civil/infrastructure/port/maritime industries.
• Fresh graduates/entry‑level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Exposure to building services, marine projects and infrastructure works is an advantage.
• Knowledge of contract management, local building codes and regulations is beneficial.
• PMP certification or equivalent is advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Microsoft Project.
• Well‑organized with ability to identify issues and follow through to resolution.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in the execution and delivery of projects per the Project Implementation Framework.
• Ensure activities comply with contractual requirements, quality plans, and QA/QC standards.
• Coordinate site activities with internal teams, consultants and contractors (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical).
• Assist with pre‑ and post‑project contractual matters, including technical reviews and tender preparation/evaluation.
• Liaise with local authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support project management, site supervision and coordination throughout implementation.
• Inspect and validate works to ensure quality compliance.
• Coordinate testing and commissioning activities with stakeholders.
• Monitor project issues and drive actions to resolution.
• Promote and ensure adherence to site safety requirements and practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other related Engineering disciplines.
• Preferably 3 years of project management experience within civil, infrastructure, port, maritime, or related industries.
• Fresh graduates / entry‑level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Exposure to building services, marine projects and infrastructure projects such as land, road, water and sewerage works would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of contract management, local building codes and regulations would be an added advantage.
• PMP certification or equivalent would be advantageous.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Microsoft Project.
• Well‑organised with the ability to identify issues, coordinate actions and follow through until resolution.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
