Our client is seeking a Construction Project Cost Controller to join their team!
This construction-focused role offers the opportunity to monitor project financial performance, support commercial decision-making and contribute to procurement activities across live building projects. The position is suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers, project teams, suppliers and construction documentation.
What you'll be doing?
- Monitor project finances: Track project income, expenditure, committed costs and overall profitability.
- Maintain cost records: Keep project cost reports, purchase orders, invoices and supporting documentation accurate and up to date.
- Compare project performance: Track actual costs against budgets and approved project costs to maintain clear financial visibility.
- Prepare financial information: Assist with project financial reports, P&L information and final cost forecasts.
- Identify cost risks: Monitor cost movements and highlight potential overruns or profitability concerns.
- Check supplier costs: Review supplier and subcontractor invoices against quotations, purchase orders and agreed costs.
- Support financial documentation: Liaise with the external accountant and provide relevant project records.
- Assist procurement activities: Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations for builder partners.
- Complete quantity take-offs: Assist with basic quantity take-offs from architectural and construction drawings.
- Coordinate project administration: Support multiple projects by following up matters and maintaining organised records.
Who are they looking for?
- Relevant experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- English communication: Fluent written and spoken English is required for communicating with suppliers, subcontractors, builder partners and project teams.
- Commercial awareness: Interest in understanding how construction projects perform financially and how costs affect profitability.
- Numerical confidence: Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, budgets and project cost information.
- Construction drawing skills: Ability to read and understand architectural or construction drawings.
- Microsoft Office skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Organisation: Highly organised, responsible and attentive to detail when managing multiple projects and tasks.
- Proactive working style: Ability to work independently, follow up matters and maintain accurate records.
- Communication skills: Confidence communicating with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
