Job summary

Hatch Asia is recruiting a Project Accountant to oversee and monitor multiple installation projects in a dynamic environment in Malaysia. You will develop budgets, monitor cash flows, and provide regular updates to senior management on financial performance and risks.

The ideal candidate holds a finance/accounting degree, 3+ years in project control, and proven ability to manage several projects. Proficiency in SAP and strong analytical skills are required for accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; professional certifications (CPA/ACCA/PMP) are advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in project control or financial management in manufacturing or construction; proficiency in project management software, financial tools, and SAP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Financial oversight & reporting: develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cash flows and financial reports, monitor expenditures and risks.
• Cost control & optimization: implement cost control procedures, review contracts for compliance, ensure accurate project billing.
• Forecasting & risk management: conduct detailed cost and sales forecasts and identify financial risks with mitigation strategies.
• Project tracking & collaboration: work with project managers to track milestones, deliverables, and timelines; assist in schedules and resource plans.
• Process improvement: maintain project docs, enhance management processes and system improvements.
• Ad hoc tasks & management support: support management with ad hoc projects and reporting.

The Challenges

• Financial Oversight & Reporting: Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, cash flows and financial reports; monitor expenditures, analyze variances, and prepare regular updates on financial performance and risks for senior management and stakeholders
• Cost Control & Optimization: Implement cost control procedures, identify cost-saving opportunities, review contracts for compliance, and ensure accurate project billing and cost/revenue alignment.
• Forecasting & Risk Management: Conduct detailed cost and sales forecasts, update projections based on changing conditions, identify potential financial risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Project Tracking & Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers to track milestones, deliverables, and timelines; assist in preparing schedules, resource plans, and addressing budget-related opportunities or threats.
• Process Improvement: Maintain accurate project documentation, enhance project management processes, and contribute to system improvements for greater efficiency.
• Ad Hoc Tasks & Management Support: Support management with ad hoc projects, reporting requirements, and ensuring all financial aspects align with organizational goals and standards.

What It Takes
