Job summary

Royston APAC Pte Ltd. seeks a Project and Service Engineer to supervise EFMS installation on marine vessels and provide ongoing technical support. Based in East Malaysia, preferably Sarawak, you will act as the local technical representative and monitor distributor performance.

You will travel across Malaysia, perform vessel surveys, oversee commissioning and handover, and coordinate with customers, the local distributor and enginei's technical team.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical, electronic, instrumentation, marine engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and reporting skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vessel surveys and supervise EFMS installation, including equipment placement, cabling, power and integration requirements.
• Supervise installation, configuration, commissioning, testing, sea trials and customer handover, ensuring work meets enginei requirements.
• Ensure distributor's installation, commissioning and after-sales work meets enginei quality and safety standards; report issues and follow corrective actions to completion.
• Provide local first- and second-line technical support, including remote diagnostics, onboard fault-finding, repairs and escalation of software or product issues.
• Monitor vessel performance, investigate operational or data irregularities and support customers through the helpdesk.
• Complete accurate service and commissioning reports, maintain vessel records and help train and assess distributor engineers and subcontractors.

About the role

As Project and Service Engineer, you will supervise the installation and commissioning of enginei Electronic Fuel Monitoring Systems on marine vessels and provide ongoing technical support. Based in East Malaysia, preferably Sarawak, you will also act as enginei's local technical representative, monitoring the quality and performance of our local distributor and its subcontractors.

This field-based oversight role requires regular vessel attendance across Malaysia and close coordination with customers, the local distributor and the enginei technical team.

Key responsibilities

Conduct vessel surveys and supervise or inspect EFMS installation, including equipment placement, cabling, power and integration requirements.

Supervise installation, configuration, commissioning, testing, sea trials and customer handover, ensuring work meets enginei requirements.

About you

Qualification in electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control, marine engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Relevant experience supervising the installation, commissioning, or servicing of complex systems, preferably in the marine or maritime industry.

Knowledge of vessel engines, fuel systems, sensors, electrical systems, and communication interfaces.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and reporting skills, with the confidence to explain complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Professional, credible and composed, with strong listening, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Good command of written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

Able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, assess contractor workmanship objectively and enforce technical standards.

Willing to travel frequently across Malaysia and provide occasional out-of-hours support.

Advantages

Experience with fuel systems, sensors, and communication interfaces, marine automation, Modbus, 4G/SATCOM or remote diagnostic systems.
