Job summary

AGENSI PEKERJAAN LIFEWORK SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead manufacturing operations in Penang. You will execute production plans, manage teams, and drive cost control while ensuring quality and safety.

The role requires a Diploma or higher in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, at least 5 years of production management, and strong lean skills. You will work with MES and coordinate cross-functional teams to meet customer deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Execute production plans and coordinate manpower, equipment, and material allocation
• Monitor daily production capacity, resolve bottlenecks, and meet delivery deadlines
• Track WIP and output data, and prepare daily/weekly production reports
• Manage production supervisors and frontline operators, establish KPIs, and conduct performance appraisals
• Provide training and coaching, and handle disciplinary matters
• Manage local and foreign workers, control turnover, and oversee shift scheduling
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian labour laws relating to hours, overtime, and rest days
• Work with Quality to maintain in-process quality and contain defects
• Implement corrective and improvement measures, and reduce rework and scrap
• Drive cost control initiatives by optimizing material and energy consumption

Job description

This is a Production Management role responsible for executing production plans, managing production teams, maintaining quality and cost control, ensuring workplace safety and compliance, improving equipment efficiency, and coordinating across functional teams in a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

Execute production plans and coordinate manpower, equipment, and material allocation

Monitor daily production capacity, resolve production line bottlenecks, and ensure customer delivery deadlines are met

Track work-in-progress (WIP) and output data, and prepare daily and weekly production reports

Manage production supervisors and frontline operators, establish KPIs, and conduct performance appraisals

Provide training and coaching, and handle disciplinary matters

Manage local employees and foreign workers, control employee turnover, and oversee shift scheduling

Ensure strict compliance with Malaysian labour laws relating to working hours, overtime, and rest days

Work closely with the Quality Department to maintain in-process quality and contain defective products

Implement corrective and improvement measures, and reduce rework and scrap

Drive production cost control initiatives by optimising material and energy consumption and minimising production losses

About you

Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline

At least 5 years of production management experience in the manufacturing industry

Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices, including 5S, continuous improvement, OEE, production line balancing, and production loss control

Strong leadership and problem-solving skills

Data-driven mindset and ability to work under delivery deadline pressure

Proficiency in using Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software for production management
