Job summary

Frencken Mechatronics Malaysia is seeking a Production Engineer to support and improve manufacturing processes, drive efficiency, quality, and cost objectives. You will analyze production issues, implement corrective actions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing and production processes to achieve operational efficiency, quality, productivity, and cost objectives. The role involves analyzing production issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze production processes to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Identify production issues, investigate root causes, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring production, quality, process, and operational issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, process efficiency, product quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies to optimize production processes and eliminate waste.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of manufacturing processes, work instructions, process standards, and production procedures.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other relevant departments to resolve process and production-related issues.
  • Analyze production data and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Apply manufacturing methodologies such as 5S, Just-In-Time (JIT), and other continuous improvement techniques within the production environment.
  • Participate in PFMEA activities and support the identification and mitigation of potential process and manufacturing risks.
  • Conduct process improvement activities to reduce waste, downtime, defects, and production inefficiencies.
  • Support production trials, process changes, and new or improved manufacturing methods where required.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant production, process improvement, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure production processes are carried out in accordance with established standards, procedures, quality requirements, and company policies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams in resolving process-related problems.
  • Participate in improvement projects and other engineering activities assigned by the management.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate superior or management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Candidates with relevant technical qualifications and strong manufacturing experience may also be considered.

Working Experience 2 to 5 years of hands-on working experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience in production engineering, process improvement, manufacturing engineering, or a related field will be an added advantage. Practical experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementation of corrective and preventive actions is required.

Knowledge & Skills Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Knowledge of PFMEA, 5S, Just-In-Time (JIT) and other manufacturing improvement techniques. Good understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, and process control. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions. Ability to analyze production data and identify process improvement opportunities. Good understanding of quality and process improvement concepts. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
