SPCI OSC SILICATE (M) SDN BHD is seeking a Production Engineer to assist the Production Manager in overseeing day-to-day plant operations, monitor production output, and uphold safety and quality standards.
You will troubleshoot process issues, optimize efficiency, assist with schedules, and develop SOPs, PFDs, and P&IDs while coordinating with vendors and operators.
To assist the Production Manager in overseeing day-to-day plant operations, monitoring production output, and maintaining high safety and quality standards. The Production Engineer plays a key technical role in troubleshooting process issues, optimizing production efficiency, and supporting plant modification.
Oversee daily manufacturing processes to ensure continuous, efficient workflow and achievement of production targets (volume and quality)
Monitor critical process parameters, conduct regular visual observations, and adhere to operational checklists
Coordinate the supply, storage, and movement of raw materials and work-in-progress (WIP) inventory needed for smooth runs
Assist the Production Manager in planning and executing production schedules aligned with shipment and delivery plans
Maintain accurate daily production, output, and operational records and reports
Develop and update Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for plant systems
Explore, investigate, and analyze data to identify technical bottlenecks and implement improvements on existing production lines
Perform engineering calculations (Chemical, Mechanical, or E&I) to size and select machinery and auxiliary equipment
Audit manufacturing processes, unit operations, and equipment to identify inefficiencies or non-conformances
Develop, compile, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and equipment operating manuals to strictly comply with regulatory and in-house standards
Oversee site installation and contractor work to ensure projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget
Train and guideline operators and technical staff on safe machinery usage, SOP adherence, and proper operational procedures
Ensure the work floor, tools, and equipment are consistently clean, organized, and well-maintained
Perform additional technical or administrative tasks assigned by the Production Manager or Operations Director
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
0-3 years of working experience in a manufacturing, chemical process, or plant operations environment.
Fresh graduates with strong internship experience in process engineering
Solid understanding of core process engineering principles (heat & mass balance, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics)
Hands-on familiarity with process safety concepts (HAZOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Practical understanding of equipment sizing, basic maintenance planning, and production scheduling
Ability to interpret and design engineering drawings (PFDs, P&IDs)
Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, simulation software) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word)
Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities
Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage operators and coordinate with vendors.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight timelines.
