We are seeking a Product / Platform Engineer specializing in Ethernet technologies to support customer-reported networking and connectivity issues for post-launch Ethernet adapters, LAN controllers, and embedded networking platforms.
The engineer will serve as a technical expert responsible for investigating, debugging, validating, and resolving Ethernet-related issues across server, embedded, edge, and enterprise computing platforms. This role involves close collaboration with customers and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure timely issue resolution and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve customer-reported Ethernet and networking issues.
- Perform issue triage, debugging, root cause analysis, and validation activities.
- Support Ethernet controller integration, platform bring-up, and customer design-in activities.
- Debug hardware, firmware, driver, and operating system interactions affecting network connectivity and performance.
- Analyze board schematics, platform designs, and networking architectures.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, firmware, validation, and product engineering teams.
- Document technical findings and drive issues to closure.
- Support customer escalations and provide technical guidance when required.
Technical Requirements
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and x86-based computing platforms.
- Knowledge of Ethernet controller architecture and networking fundamentals.
- Understanding of board-level digital design, transmission lines, power delivery, and embedded hardware design.
- Experience reviewing schematics and PCB layouts, particularly for Ethernet adapters and LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) designs.
- Knowledge of Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), and high-speed interface design concepts.
- Experience with Ethernet interfaces and standards including:
1GbE
2.5GbE
10GbE
25GbE
40GbE
50GbE (preferred)
100GbE (preferred)
- Working knowledge of Ethernet controllers, network adapter configuration, and performance tuning.
- Experience troubleshooting Ethernet connectivity, throughput, link negotiation, and interoperability issues.
- Knowledge of PCI Express (PCIe) architecture, device configuration, and platform integration.
- Familiarity with Wake-on-LAN (WoL), Bit Error Rate (BER) testing, and high-speed interface validation.
- Strong debugging skills using hardware and software diagnostic tools.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Ethernet validation tools, protocol analyzers, or JTAG debugging tools is an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in Ethernet, networking, platform validation, hardware/software development, technical support, or customer engineering.
- Experience designing, validating, or debugging PCI Express and high-speed Ethernet platforms is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive issues to resolution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage for supporting customers in Taiwan and Greater China.
