The Human Capital is seeking a Product Engineer (CAD) for Complex Optical Systems to act as the primary manufacturing interface for new hardware products. You will sustain production, implement ECOs, and support NPI within a cross-functional team across global time zones.
You should be proficient in CAD, especially SolidWorks, and comfortable dealing with tight tolerances in opto-mechanical assemblies. A strong mechanical engineering foundation is essential.
About the Opportunity
Our MNC client is a global leader in high-performance precision systems and advanced optical solutions, enabling breakthrough discoveries across multiple high-tech industries. They are seeking a highly visible, cross-functional Senior Engineer to support the seamless production and continuous improvement of these advanced systems. In this role, you will act as the primary manufacturing interface for new and existing hardware products. You will join an exciting multi-disciplinary group, balancing sustaining engineering duties with crucial support for New Product Introductions (NPI). Most critically, you will be challenged to work on optical systems of advanced complexity where real engineering problems need to be solved frequently. From the perspective of this requirement, a mechanical engineering foundation would be most fitting.
Your 3 Key Competencies (What You Must Bring)
Proactive Problem-Solving Drive: Our client is looking for an engineer who inherently wants to do better and is highly proactive. You must constantly come to the table with multiple solutions and options for the task at hand, rather than waiting for instructions. For such a competency we are looking for someone highly curious and fascinated by complex optical engineering problems.
Mechanical CAD & Improvement Expertise: You must be highly confident in creating and modifying CAD drawings, with a strong preference for SolidWorks. You will handle vital sustaining duties to keep production moving smoothly, including executing design corrections, managing product obsolescence, generating BOMs, and writing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
Cross-Functional Technical Communication: You must possess the communication skills required to clearly convey technical problems. You will routinely explain how complex systems work and propose assembly improvements to both local and global teams. As this is a role of global visibility, the way you dissect problems and communicate across solutions is important.
What You Will Do
Evaluate product designs and create the processes, tools, and procedures required for manufacturing.
Prepare, release, and revise assembly work instructions for production, alongside tooling and test fixtures.
Master a steep learning curve to obtain a generic overview of how diverse product lines work, dedicating the majority of your work to very high precision opto-mechanical systems where we require a sound engineering mind that enjoys dealing with complex tolerances.
Collaborate heavily across time zones with globally based international teams and the procurement department to qualify new components.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
A Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Masters is useful to set a strong foundation.
A strong mechanical background, coupled with the aptitude to understand complex electromechanical assemblies.
Advanced skills in creating and editing parts, assemblies, and drawing files in SolidWorks.
Experience in the creation, interpretation, and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Familiarity with a major ERP system, specifically handling material masters, BOMs, and routings.
Demonstrated self-learning abilities, showing a track record of independently seeking out knowledge.
Why Join Our Client?
You will step into a highly collaborative environment that values engineers who are driven, passionate, and deeply engaged in their work. Our client maintains a friendly, open atmosphere where a willingness to teach and collaborate with everyone is celebrated. For engineers who have the drive and skills, there is ample opportunity to expand your scope and deeply assist the engineering team with New Product Introductions.
If you are excited about getting challenged and pushing your mechanical engineering knowledge to the next level, don't hesitate.
