Job summary

Combi-Pack Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks an expert designer with CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred) to lead PET packaging projects. You will design bottles, jars, and related components, assess preform and blow-mold feasibility, and ensure manufacturability across one to 1.5 stage processes.

With minimum 5 years in rigid packaging design, you will review product specs, collaborate with customers and suppliers, run mold-design discussions, and support quality tests and FMEA to deliver scalable

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Industrial Design or Engineering with at least 2 years packaging design experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks; strong sketching and prototyping skills.
• Knowledge of plastic injection moulding and packaging design is advantageous.
• Experience with ISO 9001/ ISO 22000/ HACCP/ GMP is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct product design reviews and develop product specifications with dimensional analysis.
• Create renderings using SolidWorks or other rendering software.
• Discuss and define product specifications with customers and suppliers.
• Coordinate with suppliers on mold design and project scope.
• Prepare a project Gantt chart with key phases and milestones.
• Follow up mold trials and validate against functional tests requested by customers.
• Develop quality plans and gauges for packaging dimensions.
• Lead technical team meetings internally or with customers.
• Perform FMEA/ FEA / mold flow analysis and simulations.

Job description

• Expert as designer with CAD software, Solidworks preferred – Minimum 5 years
• Rigid packaging design knowledge – minimum 5 years, for PET products (3D and 2D)
• The candidate must understand the constraints of designing a PET bottle, jar, or any products, manufactured with 1 stage, 2 stages, or even 1,5 stage processes.
• He/she must be able to determine the stretch ratio between the preform and the product to develop and confirm the blowability, when the product is blown from a defined preform.
• He/she must be able to define the preform required to blow the product (bottle, jar, …) based on a drawing, 3D file of the finish goods.
• He/she must be able to design a preform (with the appropriate stretch ratio to manufacture, blow the product.
• Having knowledge on designing thin wall PET products manufactured by injection process would be a plus.
• Product design review, product specification and Dimensional Analysis
• Able to use rendering software – Solidworks modules or others
• Knowledge on product specification definition for packaging – Ability to discuss and define the product specifications with the customer
• Ability to discuss with suppliers about the product design and mold design
• To be able to prepare a project Gant chart with all the key phases
• To be able to follow up mold trials
• To be able to understand the functional tests requested by our customers for their products and to explain them to our quality department.
• Quality plan and gauges
• Able to conduct a technical team meeting (internally or with the customer)
• FMEA / FEA / mold flow analysis and simulation

Qualification:

• a) Diploma / Degree in Industrial Design with minimum 2 years working experiences in designing household / packaging product or / andDiploma or Degree holder in Science of Engineering. Or/and
• b) Proficient in AutoCAD or Solidwork softwarse and systems.
• c) Good sketching and prototyping skill with excellent concept design idea
• d) Knowledge of plastic injection moulding process or plastic product design is added advantage
• e) Experience in ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP will be an added advantage
