Job summary

Combi-Pack Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks a seasoned Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance, engineering, facilities and technical teams, and to develop the plant's overall maintenance and asset reliability strategy.

You will establish preventive, predictive, corrective and condition-based programs, manage annual maintenance plans and CAPEX proposals, and drive TPM/Lean and continuous-improvement to ensure high equipment availability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 6-10 years in industrial/manufacturing maintenance with leadership experience.
  • Strong experience managing maintenance teams in a high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, PLC, hydraulic and utility systems.
  • Experience in preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning.
  • Experience managing budgets, contractors and spare parts.
  • Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing and structured problem solving.
  • Experience with statutory compliance and industrial safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the plant's maintenance and asset reliability strategy.
  • Lead the maintenance, engineering, facilities, and technical teams.

  • Develop annual maintenance plans, manpower, budgets and CAPEX proposals.
  • Establish maintenance standards, procedures and work instructions.
  • Develop technical capability through training, coaching and succession planning.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of production equipment and critical assets.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for major equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee maintenance of plant utilities: electrical, air, HVAC, boilers, water/wastewater.
  • Prepare and manage maintenance budget; optimize manpower, contracts, spare parts.
  • Lead Lean, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Drive energy conservation and plant-improvement projects.

Job description

Develop and implement the plant's overall maintenance and asset reliability strategy.

Lead the maintenance, engineering, facilities, and technical teams.

Establish preventive, predictive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance programs.

Develop annual maintenance plans, manpower requirements, budgets, and capital expenditure proposals.

Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and work instructions.

Develop technical capability through training, coaching, and succession planning.

2. Equipment Reliability & Availability

Ensure high availability and reliability of production equipment and critical assets.

Monitor equipment downtime, breakdown frequency, MTBF, MTTR, and maintenance effectiveness.

Identify critical equipment and establish appropriate maintenance strategies.

Lead root-cause analysis for major and recurring equipment failures.

Implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.

Drive continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability and productivity.

3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

Establish and maintain effective preventive maintenance schedules.

Implement predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration monitoring, thermography, oil analysis, condition monitoring, and other appropriate technologies.

Ensure timely completion and proper documentation of maintenance activities.

Review maintenance frequency and optimize maintenance plans based on equipment condition and historical data.

Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles where applicable.

4. Breakdown & Emergency Management

Lead the response to major equipment breakdowns and production interruptions.

Ensure effective troubleshooting and rapid restoration of equipment.

Conduct post-breakdown analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Maintain appropriate critical spare parts and emergency resources.

5. Utilities & Facilities Management

Oversee maintenance and reliability of plant utilities, including:

Electrical power distribution

Compressed air

HVAC and ventilation

Chillers and cooling systems

Boilers and steam systems, where applicable

Water and wastewater systems

Building and facility infrastructure

Ensure utilities are available, reliable, and operated efficiently.

Drive energy conservation and utility cost-reduction initiatives.

6. Maintenance Budget & Cost Control

Prepare and manage the annual maintenance operating budget.

Control maintenance spending while maintaining equipment reliability and safety.

Optimize maintenance manpower, contractors, spare parts, and service costs.

Establish spare-parts inventory controls and critical-stock levels.

Identify and deliver maintenance cost-reduction opportunities.

Prepare and justify CAPEX proposals for equipment replacement, upgrades, and reliability improvements.

Provide maintenance and engineering input for new equipment and production-line projects.

Participate in equipment specification, technical evaluation, installation, commissioning, and acceptance.

Ensure maintainability, reliability, safety, and spare-parts requirements are considered during equipment selection.

Support automation, equipment upgrades, capacity expansion, and plant improvement projects.

Ensure proper handover of new assets into the maintenance system.

8. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety standards and applicable statutory requirements.

Implement safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work, electrical safety, confined-space requirements, and working-at-height controls where applicable.

Ensure maintenance personnel and contractors are properly trained and authorized.

Conduct maintenance risk assessments and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Support regulatory inspections, audits, and certification requirements.

Manage maintenance contractors, service providers, and technical suppliers.

Establish contractor performance standards covering safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Evaluate supplier technical capability and service performance.

Negotiate maintenance contracts, service agreements, and technical support arrangements.

Develop reliable strategic suppliers for critical equipment and services.

Drive implementation and effective use of CMMS/EAM systems.

Improve maintenance planning, scheduling, work-order management, and asset history.

Develop dashboards for equipment reliability and maintenance performance.

Introduce condition monitoring, predictive analytics, automation, and other Industry 4.0 technologies where appropriate.

Lead Lean, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other continuous-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

6 -10 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance, with significant leadership experience.

Strong experience managing maintenance teams in a manufacturing or high-volume production environment.

Proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility systems.

Experience in preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance.

Strong understanding of maintenance planning.

Experience managing maintenance budgets, contractors, spare parts.

Strong knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, structured problem-solving.

Experience with statutory compliance and industrial safety requirements is preferred.
