Job summary

Benchmark Electronics is seeking a Buyer in Penang to ensure timely procurement and availability of materials for production and customer demand. You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to manage POs, optimize inventory levels, and support cost and operational objectives.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain or related field, 2+ years in EMS manufacturing procurement, and strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain/related field.
• Minimum 2 years in purchasing/procurement in EMS/manufacturing.
• Experience with electronic components and supplier management.
• Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems; Baan is a plus.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask in fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office apps.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials and components to support production schedules and customer requirements.
• Manage purchase orders and monitor status for on-time delivery.
• Review material requirements based on forecasts, demand, and MRP.
• Coordinate with suppliers on delivery schedules and issue resolution.
• Support inventory management by balancing availability and targets.
• Monitor supplier performance in delivery, quality, and capacity.
• Manage material phase-in/phase-out while minimizing excess inventory.
• Identify supply risks and develop recovery plans.
• Analyze purchase price variances and support cost reduction initiatives.
• Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Operations for smooth material flow.
