Job summary

Benchmark Electronics IPO Division in Bayan Lepas Penang is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our operations team. You will lead procurement strategies to optimise materials flow, drive cost efficiency and ensure timely delivery for manufacturing.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years in commodity purchasing/planning with 3+ years in leadership, plus strong ERP experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.
7 years of experience in commodity purchasing/planning; 3 years in a leadership role.
Understanding of ERP tools (MAPICS, Baan or equivalent).
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee the procurement of materials to support product lines and MRO supplies to meet the business needs.
Develop the plans required to complete the acquisition of components, subassemblies and equipment within the parameters of the Company policies and procedures.
Approve the negotiation of purchase orders within authorized limits; Ensure appropriate methods of PO administration are developed and maintained and monitor or participate in major dollar procurement negotiation.
Monitor purchases to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and the most economical price attainment; Resolve major material problems as they arise.
Meet with major vendors to promote the Company’s best interest concerning all matters dealing with the purchase of materials and services and to identify changing market conditions.
Foster and maintain a sound and reliable working relationship with all suppliers and develop metrics to measure and improve vendors’ performance.
Ensure compliance with contractual and customer requirements.
Ensure the coordination of material cost inputs to support the quoting process.
Review the progress of function’s activities and initiate corrective actions as required.
