Job summary

See Yong & Son Construction Sdn Bhd S(YS) in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking a Purchaser to manage procurement for civil, marine, and dredging projects. You will source, negotiate, and place purchase orders to support site execution and project timelines.

You will liaise with suppliers, monitor delivery, ensure QHSE compliance, and maintain vendor relationships. Diploma/Degree in related field and 1–3 years' purchasing experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 1–3 years of purchasing experience in civil, marine or dredging construction industries.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of cost savings.
• Familiarity with construction materials, marine equipment, dredging consumables, and project-based procurement.
• Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software (e.g., SAP, AutoCount).
• Strong sense of urgency, integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and procure materials, equipment, and services related to civil engineering, marine, and dredging works.
• liaise and negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors for competitive pricing and reliable delivery schedules.
• Issue and manage Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
• Coordinate with project teams for accurate material forecasting and timely deliveries to site.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain an approved vendor list.
• Keep abreast of market trends, product developments and cost changes.
• Work with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure efficient supply chain flow.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards.
