Job summary

Bayu Somerset is seeking a Procurement & Sourcing Executive to join our Strategy & Supply Chain team in Malaysia. The role focuses on sourcing products, materials and suppliers with a strong emphasis on China-based sourcing, and requires Mandarin proficiency for direct supplier communication.

You will collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to secure quality goods at competitive costs, manage end-to-end procurement, and ensure timely delivery while driving cost reductions and supplier

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, purchasing or supply chain.
• Able to communicate effectively in Mandarin/Chinese, as role requires direct communication with China-based suppliers.
• Able to communicate effectively in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Familiarity with Chinese sourcing platforms and supplier networks is an added advantage.
• Strong negotiation and commercial evaluation skills.
• Good numerical skills and comfortable with quotations, costing and price comparisons.
• Strong attention to detail in product specifications, pricing, quantities and delivery timelines.
• Proactive with strong follow-up and problem-solving skills.
• Able to manage multiple sourcing projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.
• Experience in fashion, retail, apparel, merchandise, lifestyle products, packaging or consumer goods is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities for Bayu Somerset.
• Source products, merchandise, packaging, materials, fixtures, equipment and other business requirements.
• Identify, evaluate and develop suitable suppliers, particularly China-based manufacturers and suppliers.
• Communicate directly with Chinese suppliers regarding product specifications, quotations, samples, production requirements and timelines.
• Conduct supplier research, quotation comparisons and cost analysis.
• Negotiate pricing, MOQ, payment terms, lead times and other commercial terms.
• Coordinate product sampling, revisions and approvals between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and manage purchase orders and procurement documentation.
• Monitor production and procurement timelines closely to ensure orders are completed according to schedule.
• Follow up proactively with suppliers on production progress and resolve delays, quality issues or supply challenges.
• Coordinate with logistics, warehouse and relevant teams on shipment and delivery arrangements.
• Maintain accurate procurement trackers, supplier databases, quotations, product costing and purchase records.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
• Continuously identify opportunities to reduce sourcing costs, improve lead times and strengthen supplier performance.
• Support new product development and ad-hoc sourcing requirements across the business.

We are looking for aProcurement & Sourcing Executiveto join our Strategy & Supply Chain team. This role will be responsible for sourcing products, materials and suppliers, with a strong focus onChina-based sourcing, as well as managing procurement requirements across Bayu Somerset.

The candidate will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the right products are sourced at competitive costs, with the required quality and delivered according to timeline. As a significant portion of our supplier base is located in China,proficiency in Mandarin/Chinese is requiredfor direct supplier communication and negotiation.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities for Bayu Somerset.

Source products, merchandise, packaging, materials, fixtures, equipment and other business requirements.

Identify, evaluate and develop suitable suppliers, particularlyChina-based manufacturers and suppliers.

Communicate directly with Chinese suppliers regarding product specifications, quotations, samples, production requirements and timelines.

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree inSupply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Logistics or a related field.

Preferably1–3 years of experiencein sourcing, procurement, purchasing or supply chain.

Able to communicate effectively in Mandarin/Chinese, as the role requires frequent communication and negotiation with China-based suppliers.

Able to communicate effectively in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Comfortable sourcing and dealing directly with overseas manufacturers and suppliers.

Familiarity with Chinese sourcing platforms and supplier networks will be an added advantage.

Strong negotiation and commercial evaluation skills.

Good numerical skills and comfortable working with quotations, costing and price comparisons.

Strong attention to detail, particularly in product specifications, pricing, quantities and delivery timelines.

Proactive with strong follow-up and problem-solving skills.

Able to manage multiple sourcing projects and priorities simultaneously.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets.
