Job summary

Atomic Recruitment Sea is seeking a Procurement Manager / Assistant Manager for a global food manufacturing company in Malaysia. You will lead the procurement function, source materials, manage suppliers, and ensure continuity of supply to support production.

The role requires 5–8 years in procurement, 2–3 years in supervision, strong analytic and cross-functional collaboration, and English communications. You will collaborate with Production, QA, R&D, Finance and Planning to drive cost savings

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of procurement/supply chain experience.
• 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Strong understanding of raw material procurement, inventory management, and supply planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute purchasing plans based on production and business requirements.
• Source, evaluate and onboard new suppliers and alternative materials.
• Monitor raw material markets, pricing trends and supply conditions to support purchasing decisions.
• Manage supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance and service levels.
• Identify and implement cost-saving and procurement optimisation opportunities.
• Ensure continuity of supply and proactively manage supplier and material risks.
• Develop alternative suppliers for critical/key materials.
• Monitor inventory levels and purchasing requirements.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with SOPs, policies and documentation requirements.
• Lead and support the procurement team in achieving KPIs, cost-saving and operational targets.
• Work closely with Planning, Production, QA, R&D, Finance and other departments.
• Prepare procurement reports and provide regular updates to Management.
• Perform other procurement-related responsibilities as required.

Role Overview

Our client is an established global food manufacturing company specialising in food ingredients and value-added food products.

We are looking for a Procurement Manager / Assistant Manager to lead the overall procurement function, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing, supply continuity, supplier performance and effective cost management.

This role will work closely with Production, Planning, QA, R&D, Finance and other cross-functional teams to ensure materials are available to support business and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business or related discipline.
• 5–8 years of procurement/supply chain experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Strong understanding of:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Detail-oriented with good documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Candidates with procurement experience within food manufacturing, food ingredients, FMCG, chemicals, consumer products or other process/manufacturing environments would be particularly relevant.
