Job summary

Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems Asia Sdn Bhd is seeking a senior procurement professional to lead sourcing, supplier management, and category strategies in a manufacturing/engineering environment.

The role requires 8–12 years of procurement experience, Mandarin proficiency, and a strong track record in cost reduction and CAPA. You will drive continuous improvement while ensuring policy compliance and ethical sourcing practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• 8–12 years of procurement experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Mandarin proficiency is required due to suppliers based in China.
• Proven leadership ability to manage and drive performance across multiple procurement teams.
• Strong track record in supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Solid commercial and analytical mindset with risk assessment and contract review capabilities.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute procurement and category strategies to improve performance, meet customer needs, optimise inventory, and reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimising risk through demand planning and control measures.

Lead sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management to ensure pricing, quality, delivery, and compliance.

Ensure material availability and prevent shortages or excess through data analysis and forecasting.

Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers in line with ISO and company quality standards.

Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives, including should-cost analysis with technical teams.

Manage supplier performance and resolve quality issues, implementing CAPA where needed.

Review and govern purchase orders to ensure accuracy, compliance, and process efficiency.

Align procurement activities with company values and maintain a professional stakeholder image.

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and ethical sourcing standards.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support commercial goals, cost control, and project delivery.

Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Engineering, or related field.

8-12 years of procurement experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment, covering procurement operations, supplier management, and inventory control.

Mandarin proficiency is required due to the large proportion of suppliers based in China.

Proven leadership ability to manage, influence, and drive performance across multiple procurement teams, including handling diverse personalities and driving change.

Strong track record in supplier negotiation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Solid commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to assess risks, review contract terms, and implement practical solutions.

Proficient in ERP systems and MS Office (especially Excel).

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels.
